EARLY DEVELOPMENT

GROUPS

We continue to support all of the children and parents involved in these sessions as best we can. Our delivery is as flexible as possible offering a mixture of online and face to face delivery. Izzi will be delivering online sessions and Wendy face to face.

We have a code of conduct in place for delivery at the centre and all families should have received a copy. This is to ensure everybody’s safety while

at the centre.

The groups are currently one hour long and involve just 2 to 3 children per session; it is much easier having smaller groups whatever method of delivery.

All families are contacted with reminders the day before their session. Transport is available if required.

ONE TO ONE COUNSELLING SESSIONS AVAILABLE ONLINE OR DIRECT

Please email the office for more details or to book an online/ face to face session with Tara Fox. Sessions are free and funded by the Edward Gostling Foundation.

OUR HISTORY Highlights from 2012 At the beginning of 2012 we received £382 259 from the Big Lottery

Fund. This was to ensure the sustainability of our charity over the

next 5 years, funding the majority of our projects and helping us to

expand our team and increase capacity.

We celebrated in style at the Cedar Court Hotel in March with a

weekend full of dancing, eating and relaxing together as families and

friends.

Our speech & language sessions re commenced and we again ran six

trips during the summer break. We employed new admin staff and a

new early years practitioner;

Isabel Ashman.

In April 2012 we started weekly street dancing sessions at

Nabwood Sports Centre, with Karen from MESH ..this was

eventually to become our dance troupe, dance21.

During the year we trialled a Playing Out Club but due to

poor attendance, it was not continued.

In May we became charity of the year for St Bede’s

Grammar School. They were amazing at raising funds and provided a number of inclusive

activities in their school for our young people.

In October we held a reading development conference at the Thornbury

Centre to promote the newly developed Reading Language Intervention

programme.

As we approached 2013 we

were busy planning the move to

our new premises in Bingley

with so much more space to

deliver our training and early

development groups.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Our AGM took place on Saturday 10th October via zoom. It was

lovely to see so many friendly faces. Thank you to everyone who

joined. The business was swiftly delt with; all Directors were

re-elected for another year and highlights from our progress

report were shared and celebrated.

If anyone would like a copy of the reports please contact the

Office. Thank you.

OUR WORK PROJECT - RELAUNCH IN THE NEW YEAR We are busy making plans to relaunch our ‘I can work’ project in the new year. The project will be open to young adults with Down syndrome age 18+ and it will be based at our centre. It will involve attending our centre over a number of sessions to take part in work related life skills such as appropriate dressing, conversations, time management, money skills and various job taster sessions. More details next month but if you are interested please contact the office.
