FOR THE ENDURING HEALTH OF YOUR SOIL, CROPS AND BUSINESS

As long as farmers have cultivated the land, they have searched for ways to maximize their harvest. Over twenty years ago, Monty Justice made history with the introduction of our revolutionary humic technology. Our activated humics enhanced the soil so effectively, farmers began reporting unprecedented yields. The world of agriculture would never be the same.

Yet, Monty’s has always been about much more than this year’s yield. Our employees care deeply about growers and their success. We carefully research and develop products designed to improve your soil and plants over the long term. Our products create a sustainable system that enhances growth each year. Like you, we are unwilling to sacrifice our commitment to the environment as we create products that deliver maximum results.

We continue to add select products to our program of plant and soil care. Each one is thoroughly tested and reviewed by those who know best – farmers and the dealers you trust.

As a privately-held company, Monty’s is committed to the long-term health of your soil, crop and business – by delivering success you can see.

Compare the difference with and without Monty’s Liquid Carbon. Monty’s products are effective at low concentrations because of their activation, optimized formulation and purity. But don’t take our word for it. Compare the pictures at right to see how Monty’s process results in soluble humics which dissolve and disperse upon contact with moisture, ready to work throughout your soil profile.

Don’t be fooled by the Humic content numbers on product packaging. Today’s labels show anything from 1% to 70%, but that is not the entire story. There are different methods for measuring humic substances, some of which include a measurement of ash along with the humics reading. The method accepted by most states is the California 4A 4/JC method. This is the method that Monty’s uses. We took some competing products and had them analyzed the same way we have our product analyzed. You may find the results surprising.

This is really just the beginning of the story. Just as testing methods yield different results, how the brown coal is processed yields different results in the field. Monty’s proprietary process offers the following benefits:

• Fully Activated – Monty’s fully activates all humic substances for maximum Bio (Microbial activity, Nutrient delivery), Geo (Mineral activity, humus formation, improved soil structure) and Chemical (Unlocks tied-up nutrients, improves CEC capacity) activity.

• Optimized Formulation – Monty’s optimizes the ratio of humic substances for maximum results across a wide range of soil types.

• Purity – Monty’s proprietary processing technology removes the elements and compounds that reduce activity and performance, and therefore increases our humic’s activity and performance in the soil.

BIO, GEO AND CHEMICAL ACTIVITY DIFFERENCES MONTY’S DIFFERENCE

The vast majority of humic products are derived from brown coal. As the chart below shows, 75% of brown coal’s makeup is organic matter. Of this organic matter, roughly 80% are humic substances. Finally, humic substances consist primarily of fulvics and humic acids. See chart below.

At this stage, it is key to know that humic acids, in their natural form, are insoluble… regardless what percent humic acid is on the label. It is only the smaller percentage of fulvic acids in the humic substance that is soluble in its natural state. This is what the pictures on the previous page indicate: (a) How the activated Monty’s humic product is soluble and (b) how the competitor’s inactivated product is still insoluble.

Whether it’s 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 15%, or 12.6% humics – unless they have been activated, they are still in their natural state and are insoluble! This means they cannot disperse through the soil profile or work as efficiently as Monty’s activated humics.

THE HUMIC DIFFERENCE· MAXIMIZING SOIL PERFORMANCE

THE BENEFITS OF HUMIC TECHNOLOGY & WHY MONTY’S IS THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY

THE BASICSOF HUMICS

WHAT ARE HUMICS? Humic substances can be broken down into humic acid and fulvic acid. Humic acid is a principal component of humic substances. Humic substances are the major organic constituents of soil (humus), peat and coal. They are also found in upland streams, lakes, and ocean water. Humic substances are produced by the decomposition of organic matter.

HOW CAN HUMICS HELP ME TO INCREASE MY YIELD?Humics stimulate microbial activity in soil, help break up compacted soil, assist in transferring micronutrients from the soil to the plant, enhance water retention, increase seed germination, and improve the breakdown of plant residue.

HOW CAN MONTY’S LOWER % HUMIC BE BETTER THAN THE COMPETITION’S HIGHER % HUMIC?Whether its 50%, 25%, or 12.6%, humics in their natural state are insoluble. This means they cannot disperse effectively through the soil profile. Monty’s proprietary processing technology makes our product the most active and soluble available. Our humics are more pure and have the ideal humic-to-fulvic ratio to provide for maximum yield and success. We understand the right concentration of humic substances to maximize biological stimulation. This is why our lower concentrations are more effective. This is our advantage. Contact your Monty’s representative for more information.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING MONTY’S PRODUCTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR? Monty’s humic products are continuously working when used throughout the year. Monty’s recommended programs can improve your soils and maximize your yields year after year, providing the most cost-effective solution available.

HOW DO YOU SHOW/KNOW IT’S ACTIVE? Activity is measured in the soil and plants. Soil testing will show the results: reduced soil compaction, improved overall soil health, enhanced micronutrient uptake, and enhanced breakdown of plant residue. Results may include increased root mass, healthier plants and ultimately a higher yield. As an example, a recent study by North Carolina State University found a 12% average increase in yield over untreated soil.

HOW CAN YOU APPLY TWO QUARTS TO AN ACRE AND GET RESULTS? Our proprietary humics are purified and activated, have the correct humic-to-fulvic ratio, and are applied at the optimum humic concentra-tion. Therefore we have a lower rate of application and can achieve greater results by stimulating the soil’s natural biology in the most effective way.

“We have been using Monty’s for about three or four years now and have seen really good results. We also use Monty’s with the chisel plow with a side kick with the anhydrous. We noticed it’s as good, or probably better, than other products because you are not just stabilizing your nitrogen, but also getting the extra benefit by not killing the bacteria in your soil. The results with ours is that it’s greener and has better root structure and a little higher test weight. We also like the very low salt content because it’s non-corrosive to my equipment.”

Christian Carg, Farmer

Page 7: Monty's 2014 Corporate Catalog

MAXIMIZING SOIL PERFORMANCE· THE HUMIC DIFFERENCE

WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME TO ADD CARBON, WHEN I HAVE PLENTY OF CARBON IN MY SOIL? Carbon has many forms, but stable, organic carbon is our priority. Monty’s Liquid Carbon is the product name for our active humic products. Monty’s Liquid Carbon contains highly purified and activated humic substances with carbon in their molecular structure. This type of carbon is stable and organic.

DOES MONTY’S ACTIVATED HUMIC TECHNOLOGY WORK IN ALL SOIL TYPES? Yes. Whether you have clay soils and compaction or sandy soils, Monty’s Liquid Carbon and Monty’s Dri-Carbon can provide benefits to the soil.

HOW DOES MONTY’S HUMIC INCREASE MICROBIAL ACTIVITY? Humic products increase microbial activity by providing optimum conditions for microbial life and protecting microbes from adverse external conditions.

HOW DO MONTY’S HUMICS INCREASE CATION EXCHANGE CAPACITY (CEC) IN THE SOIL? Humic substances by themselves have a very high CEC. When added to soil, humic substances stimulate soil organic matter production, which is rich in humus. Humus has a high CEC, which raises CEC levels on the soil test.

HOW DOES YOUR COST/ACRE COMPARE TO OTHER HUMIC PRODUCTS? Our cost per acre is generally lower because our humics are purified and activated, have the correct humic-to-fulvic ratio, and are applied at the optimum humic concentration. Although our cost/gallon may be greater, our cost/acre is generally less because of our lower applica-tion rates.

A Little Dose of Truth is All Your Crops Want. The truth...

• Monty’s humic technology is proprietary. There is nothing else like it, or proven as effective on the market.

• Monty’s highly concentrated formulas allow for lower application rates – providing better value to the producer.

• Monty’s humics have been used successfully on soils ranging from heavy clay to light sand.

• Monty’s products have a proven track record of improving grower’s plants, soil, and increasing their yields since 1985.

• Monty’s humics are uniquely designed to meet your farming challenges, focusing on soil health and sustainability.

And that’s the truth. Don’t be fooled by others who tell you differently. A little dose of truth is all your crops want. Talk to your dealer or Monty’s representative, or go to TheTruthAboutHumics.com for more information.

THE TRUTH ABOUT HUMICS

Humic substances affect soil fertility by making nutrients more readily available to plants. Humic acids also promote plant growth by enabling root penetration in soils. Humic acid also acts in decreasing water evaporation from soils.

“The thing I have seen with Monty’s products that I like a lot is reducing wheat burn. We do a lot of top dressing in wheat in North Carolina with liquid products like 30% UAN. Often times when it’s heating up, that wheat is growing rapidly and is very susceptible to leaf burn. I like to put in a quart of Monty’s Liquid Carbon to an acre and it improves that plant’s growth and resists that leaf burn that we so often see with UAN.”

“We can sell Monty’s Dri-Carbon with confidence. There is more soil activity; more life in the soil. The soil is more workable. It will raise organic matter and shows on a soil test. For soybeans and corn it helps the roots spread out more and helps soil use the nutrients. It adds pounds to tobacco. And it adds leaf structure, quantity and size. Monty’s Dri-Carbon definitely works on pastures. They are green longer and more vibrant and they won’t dry down as fast. People who use it come back and ask for it the next year!”

“I use traditional fertilizers and I found that I could put more down but I wasn’t getting higher yields, so I started looking at alternatives. I looked at different ideas and I use all liquids, so Monty’s products made sense. I apply Nanobind in the spring when applying my starter formula, which includes 4-15-12 and Agri-Sweet. I started out buying 2.5 gallons of products and now I only buy totes. Since using Monty’s, I have seen better quality. The weights went up and the protein of the wheat has gone up as well.”

RESIDUE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMBREAKS DOWN CROP RESIDUE

Monty’s Residue Management program is designed to work with your soil biology to help break down crop residues, releasing more nutrients for crop uptake, creating a more healthy soil. The ideal application time for Monty’s crop Residue Management program is in the fall, post harvest. This allows even more time for the products to work in the soil and on the residue in preparation for a more trouble-free spring planting and a nutrient-rich soil. However, if fall application is missed, there are still benefits to applying in the spring before planting.

Residue can include corn, rice, milo, and wheat -- which can have larger amounts of residue. Soybean, cotton, and peanuts can also cause residue issues for farmers. Depending on the amount of residue, additional Nitrogen may be added with Monty’s Liquid Carbon and Agri-Sweet as part of a complete Residue Management program.

Monty’s Residue Management program can provide:

• Increased microbial activity leading to increased soil health• A release of more nutrients for next year’s crops• Better soil structure and texture• Increased moisture retention• Fewer equipment problems when planting into residue

Available in 2.5, 30 and 275 gallon sizes. Please check with your dealer for availability and application rates or visit www.montysplantfood.com.

“We were having a problem with corn stalks so we used the MLC (Monty’s Liquid Carbon) to help with residue. It worked really well. The stalks were still there, but when we went to plant through them, they were brittle – they broke up. We were able to plant through them. We applied the Monty’s products through a sprayer with a water carrier. We used the MLC, Agri-Sweet with the liquid nitrogen. The corn held up through the dry weather. Our corn has held up better than the neighbor’s corn.”

Paul Talley, Farmer

“We love what we see with Monty’s on alfalfa. We get larger leaves and better flowering. We get a better quality alfalfa, with more sugars and better protein. The leaves stay on the plants better after cutting, so we don’t lose as much protein after the hay is cut. And we see a quicker recovery after cutting too. By using Monty’s, we have managed to keep older alfalfa stands longer. Older existing plants are still putting on more stems and bushing more. Where we use Monty’s, we are using less dry fertilizer. We are holding more nutrients in the soil. Alfalfa uses a lot of potash, but we are not depleting as much from the soil.”

CROPS MONTY’S BASE RECOMMENDATIONS

Page 44: Monty's 2014 Corporate Catalog

Monty’s recommends that you follow the suggested application information below for optimum results for your crops. However, it is possible to achieve success without applying the entire program; consult your dealer or Monty’s representative for more information.

PRE-PLANTApply ½ to 1 gallon of Monty’s Liquid Carbon per acre with any burn down or pre-plant application.

Comment: Unless existing soil conditions warrant, this application can be skipped if you intend to utilize one of the following “Planting” applications.

PLANTINGApply ½ gallon of Monty’s Liquid Carbon per acre with any starter fertilizer in a 2x2 or existing in-row application.

If applying starters in furrow, on the seed, we suggest applying 1 gallon of Agrihance-S per acre at planting – as an alternative to your current in-row starter program.

FOLIAR APPLICATIONS FROM EMERGENCE THROUGH FIRST SIGNS OF TASSELLINGApply 1 to 2 quarts per acre of Agrihance-V with first herbicide pass.

Comments: If multiple chemical applications are anticipated over corn, the best rate of 2 quarts can be divided between applications; i.e. foliar feed more often as opposed to all at once. (1 quart applied twice versus 2 quarts applied once).

When applying any Liquid Fertilizer to corn, we suggest adding Monty’s Liquid Carbon at 1 to 2 quarts per acre.

FOLIAR APPLICATIONS AT TASSELLINGApply 1 to 2 quarts per acre of Agrihance-R with any chemical pass.

POST HARVESTApply ½ to 1 gallon of Monty’s Liquid Carbon and 1 quart Agri-Sweet per acre as a Residue Management Program.

Comment: When heavy residue is present, best results when applied with 2 to 5 gallons of liquid nitrogen.

MONTY’S SUGGESTED PROGRAM

“We could tell a huge difference

in the treated and untreated

area of that field the first year. We

repeated the test the second year

and were absolutely blown away.

The corn was almost twice as tall

and the yield was over 50 bushels

more where we applied Monty’s

Carbon for just two years.”

“It was the worst field I had as far as cloddy soil, which

always bruised and gouged the potatoes lowering

the quality. After treating the field with Monty’s Liquid

hauling the dirt clods back to the field. We hauled 1

GREENHOUSE &COMMERCIALPRODUCEMonty’s recommends that you follow the suggested application information below for optimum results for your crops. However, it is possible to achieve success without applying the entire program; consult your dealer or Monty’s representative for more information.

GREENHOUSE PRODUCTIONAt Seeding: apply Agrihance-S through overhead irrigation system or through drip lines.

- Overhead or drip lines (no injector) = 8 to 10 ounces of Agrihance-S per gallon of water.

- Overhead or drip lines (with an injector) = 8 to 10 ounces of Agrihance-S per gallon of water in holding tank and set injector to 1:100 ratio.

Optional Applications: Monty’s Liquid Carbon and Monty’s 4-15-12 can also be used in the overhead or drip line applications at a rate of: Monty’s Liquid Carbon (3 to 4 ounces per gallon of water) and Monty’s 4-15-12 (1 to 2 ounces per gallon of water).

PRE-PLANT (field preparation)

Before field is prepared for dry fertilizer, plastic and drip line installation, apply ½ to 1 gallon of Monty’s Liquid Carbon per acre. If you cannot broadcast liquid prior, apply through irrigation after plastic and drip lines are installed. If fertilizer is banded, Monty’s Liquid Carbon is best applied through drip line irrigation. Broadcast application prior to plastic will also yield positive results.

Optional Applications: Monty’s Dri-Carbon can be applied with dry fertilizer at a rate of 10 to 15 pounds per acre.

CROPS· TRAINING AND RESEARCH

CONTINUOUS TRAINING AND RESEARCH IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS!

SUCCESS YOU CAN SEE!One of Monty’s primary goals has always been to help farmers be more successful. We achieve this goal by first testing and evaluating our products on our 35 acre research farm. Next, we take our products to Certified Crop Advisors, agronomists and their growers nationwide for further testing and evaluation. Finally, our progressive products are made available to farmers through a dealership network that understands education is key to success. In order to create educational opportunities, Monty’s hosts countless training meetings and farmer presentations in conjunction with our dealers and participates in dozens of tradeshows across the country. We are most proud of our annual Farm Forum immediately preceding the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville each year where we bring in research scientists, agronomists and farmers to discuss the issues and practices which are relevant to every farmer who makes his living off the land.
