WHAT IS MOOCS?
• Moocs is online courses that are done through the use of the web and are
aiming at unlimited participation
• It is also a interacted learning that grants the opportunities to share
knowledge, ideas and work cooperative teams
• Also it is a platform where various learners bring fresh experience from
different backgrounds

HISTORY OF MOOCS
• The first MOOC was launched in 2008
• It was called Connectivism and connective knowledge (CCK8)
• It was created by educators Stephen Downes and George Siemens
• Around 2,200 people signed up for CCK08
• In 2012, Two Stanford Professors Sebastian Thrun and Peter Norvig decided
to offer “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” for free online

• More than 160,000 students in 190 countries signed up
• In 2013, the Open University built its own MOOC platform, Futurelearn,
which featured universities from the United Kingdom etc.

C- MOOCS
• C-MOOC stands for Connectivist MOOC
• They are built upon the idea and platform that was first thought by George
Siemens
• it is the learning that takes place informally
• Also it offers a collaborative, peer assessment
• It is suitable for academics, individuals and non profits
• It moves towards openness

X- MOOCS
• X moocs doesn’t stand for anything
• It appear to have developed out of the idea of Open Course
Ware and Open Educational Resources
• The learning takes place in a more formal manner
• The assessments are coordinated and quizzed
• It is used by major universities

ADVANTAGES OF MOOCS
• Improves skills of life long learning
• No degree is required to enter
• It is free of charge
• There is no limit to participation
• It also uses different types of new and interesting social media and tools found online
• Needs independent learning
• Encourages students to become responsible for their own learning

DISADVANTAGES OF MOOCS
• Requires the ability to use computers
• Requires a learner to direct him/herself
• Demands time and more effort than stated

Science and Microbiology.
• These courses discovers how the police use science in
criminal investigations and how it interacts with the criminal
justice system

KINDS OF TOPICS I WOULD LIKE TO PURSUE
• The kinds of topics I might be interested in pursuing are the
topics that involves science and its role in the criminal justice.
• Furthermore, I am also interested in knowing more about the
micro organisms that surround us, their advantages and
disadvantages and the role they play in the world and ecosystem
• These involves Bacteria's and Viruses
