Foreword by the organisation

With due pride we have started collaborating with many parties to make this beautiful new

European Cup happen. The Ju Jitsu Duo Games is a fantastic technique comparing competition

which will now be fully independently put on the European competition calendar.

We want to get more out of this tournament, it is going to be an event that will connect with many

new inventions. One of the connecting elements of the European Cup will be the usage of live

musicians. They will not just play music, but special pieces made specifically for Duo Games

competitions.

Another connecting element will be the support from municipality Medemblik to ensure their

involvement with this event. There is an incredibly beautiful and versatile team of volunteers who all

want to contribute to this sporty, sensational, welcoming and whirling tournament for all ages.

Corporate life will also be visible during this event because the moral code of budo is easily

applicable to many organisations.

We want to showcase that Ju Jitsu is a sport accessible to all ages. During this European Cup we will

see young children under the age of 12 compete with each other but also a Grandmaster aged

above 80 display that you are never to old to learn and practice.

We will also connect this event to the fight against cancer. Normally we will donate a portion of the

registration fee to KiKa, this time we have chosen to actively support the Miranda Mania. Over the

last couple of years this organisation has collected much money for cancer research.

All in all, the European Cup Ju Jitsu is not just an event, it’s priceless!

Voorwoord van de organisatie

Met gepaste trots gaan we wij in samenwerking met veel partijen een prachtig nieuw Europees

Sportevenement neerzetten. De Jiu Jitsu Duo Games is een prachtige techniek vergelijkende

wedstrijdvorm en deze komt nu voor het eerst als een volwaardig zelfstandig toernooi op de

Europese wedstrijdkalender.

Wij willen van dit toernooi meer dan alleen een wedstrijd maken, het moet een evenement gaan

worden die gaat verbinden met veel nieuwe innovaties. Één van de verbindende elementen bij deze

European Cup is de inzet van live muzikanten. Zij spelen niet zomaar muziek maar er zijn speciale

composities gemaakt voor de Duo Games wedstrijden.

Een ander verbindend element is de ondersteuning vanuit de Gemeente Medemblik zodat ook de

gemeenschap betrokken gaat raken bij dit evenement. Er is een ongelofelijk mooi en breed team

van vrijwilligers die een bijdrage wil leveren aan een sportief, sensationeel, gastvrij en wervelend

toernooi voor jong en oud. Ook het bedrijfsleven zal zichtbaar zijn bij dit evenement want de morele

code van het budo is ook heel goed toepasbaar bij heel veel organisaties.

Wij willen ook gaan laten zien dat het Jiu Jitsu een prachtige sport is voor jong en oud. Bij deze

European Cup zien wij jonge kinderen in actie onder de 12 jaar maar er komt ook een grootmeester

die met zijn leeftijd boven de 80 die laat zien dat het je nooit te oud bent om te leren en te oefenen.

Ook leggen wij de verbinding in onze strijd tegen kanker. Normaal gesproken gaat een deel van de

inschrijfgelden naar KiKa maar voor dit evenement is gekozen voor de actieve ondersteuning van de

Miranda Mania. Vanuit deze stichting is de afgelopen jaren al zeer veel geld opgehaald voor

kankeronderzoek.

Kortom, de European Cup Jiu Jitsu is niet zomaar een evenement, it’s priceless!

Foreword Council member of the municipality Medemblik

Welcome to Medemblik!

With much pleasure I welcome you and all other Ju Jitsu enthusiasts to the European Cup Duo

Games in municipality Medemblik. I think this is a fantastic and beautiful event that's being

organized in our municipality, not just this year but also the next three years to come. The European

Cup is an engaging expansion to the current top sports we currently offer, such as several

international sail events, including Medemblik Regatta, handball, skating and rollerblades, not to

mention the dozens of individual top athletes. Medemblik is top sport! Medemblik is, however, also

known for its cozy port and beautiful historical center with many houses and buildings dated in the

16th and 17th century. I would like to invite all of you to visit this part of our municipality as well.

Like that, after your visit, you will return with lovely memories. But above all I wish you much joy

during this first edition of the European Cup!

Voorwoord van de wethouder van de Gemeente Medemblik

Welkom in Medemblik!

Met groot genoegen heet ik u en alle andere jiu jitsu liefhebbers welkom bij de European Cup Duo

Games in de gemeente Medemblik. Ik vind het fantastisch dat dit prachtige evenement in onze

gemeente wordt georganiseerd. Niet alleen dit jaar, maar ook de daarop volgende drie jaren. De

European Cup vormt een aansprekende uitbreiding van het topsportaanbod van onze gemeente dat

naast diverse internationale zeilevenementen, met onder andere de Medemblik Regatta, bestaat uit

handbal, schaatsen/skeeleren en tientallen individuele topsporters. Medemblik is topsport! Maar

Medemblik staat ook bekend om haar gezellige haven en het prachtige historische centrum met vele

huizen en gebouwen uit de 16e en 17

e eeuw. Ik nodig u graag uit om ook dat deel van onze

gemeente te bezoeken. Zo gaat u na uw bezoek aan Medemblik naar huis met mooie herinneringen.

Dear sport friends and enthusiasts!

From year to year we can watch more and more young athletes performing at their best in ju-jitsu

sport. As we have Aspirants and Juniors participating at European and World Championships. We

were also looking to find a way for a high-level event also for Ju Jitsu Duo System.

We would like to thank the City of Medemblik, Budoschool Shi-Sen-Do and Judo Bond Netherland

for taking the challenge to be the first to organise new format of Europe Cup Duo Games. It’s a new

concept with live musical Support en more new thrilling innovations. It’s the place to be for all Duo-

Games athletes.

I hope you will enjoy in the hospitality of the Netherlands, have a good time and take home friendly

memories.

Last but not least we would like to thank especially parents of our youngest athletes for all the

support and investment of time and energy in ju-jitsu.

Beste sportvrienden en enthousiastelingen!

Elk jaar zien we steeds meer jonge atleten op hun best presteren in de jiu Jitsu sport. Tegenwoordig

zien wij ook veel aspiranten en junioren deelnemen aan de Europese en Wereldkampioenschappen

en we waren ook op zoek naar een extra evenement, op hoog niveau, waarmee ook het Duo-

systeem zich verder kan gaan ontwikkelen.

Wij willen de gemeente Medemblik, de Budoschool Shi-Sen-Do en de Judo Bond Nederland hartelijk

bedanken voor het oppakken van de uitdaging om een nieuwe vorm van de Europa Cup Duo

Games te organiseren.

Het is een vernieuwend concept met live muzikale ondersteuning en nog meer spannende nieuwe

innovaties. Het is dé plek voor alle Duo-Games atleten.

Ik hoop oprecht dat u zult genieten van de Nederlandse gastvrijheid en er ook een goede tijd zult

hebben met mooie en vriendelijke herinneringen.

Foreword by the JBN

Dear Sports Friends!

It gives me great pleasure to invite you for the our first continental championship Europa Cup in

DUO system, the DUO games, accompanied by the JJEU annual General Assembly. 2018 is a year of a

lot of new activities in Europa, this European Cup in DUO is one of them.

I hope that positive approach, patience and good governance will improve the conditions for our

athletes and further recognition of their achievements in the future. The Ju-Jitsu European Union

and the Dutch Judo Federation has the privilege to entrust the organization of this European Cup to

the capable hands of our sports friends in Medemblik who have the full support of the City of

Medemblik. The championship will take place in Wognum.

I would also like to use this opportunity to thank the team of Budoschool Shi-Sen-Do from

Opperdoes and other supporters, sponsors for their support. It is always nice to witness the amount

of understanding of importance of sports beyond the promotional level - the effect on education

and building friendship. My compliments to Mr and Mrs Takken and their team for their professional

approach, effective response, love and enthusiasm they have invested in ju-jitsu and, in particular, in

the DUO systems for the European Cup in DUO systems 2018.

We wish you a pleasant stay and please remember that winning is nice, but being part of a European

Voorwoord namens de Judo Bond Nederland

Beste sportvrienden!

Het doet me veel genoegen u uit te nodigen voor de eerste Europa Cup van ons continentaal

kampioenschap in het DUO-systeem. De Duo Games wordt ondersteund vanuit de jaarlijkse

algemene vergadering van het JJEU (Ju Jitsu European Union). Het jaar 2018 zit vol nieuwe

activiteiten voor Europa, deze Europa Cup in DUO-Games is er daar één van.

Ik hoop dat een positieve benadering, geduld en goed bestuur betere voorwaarden zullen opleveren

voor onze jiu jitsu atleten en dat hun prestaties in de toekomst beter zullen worden erkent. De Ju-

Jitsu Europese Unie en de Judo Bond Nederland hebben het voorrecht om de organisatie van deze

Europa Cup toe te kunnen vertrouwen aan de bekwame organisatie van onze sportvrienden in

Medemblik. Zij werken samen met TEAM Medemblik en er is volledige steun vanuit de gemeente

Medemblik. Het evenement plaats gaan vinden in de deelgemeente Wognum.

Ik wil ook van deze gelegenheid gebruik maken om het team van Budoschool Shi-Sen-Do uit

Opperdoes, de supporters, sponsoren en partners te bedanken voor de organisatie. Het is altijd

mooi om getuige te mogen zijn van de verbinding en het belang van sport op de omgeving. Naast

het promotie is er effect op educatie en de opbouw van onderlinge vriendschappen.

Hierbij ook mijn complimenten aan de heer en mevrouw Takken voor hun team. De aanpak is

professioneel met een effectieve respons. Zij hebben met zeer veel passie en enthousiasme

geïnvesteerd in het jiu-jitsu en in het bijzonder het DUO-systeem, met tot gevolg een Europa Cup in

DUO-Games in 2018.

We wensen een ieder een prettig verblijf en blijf bewust van het feit dat winnen leuk is, maar dat

deel uitmaken van een Europa Cup al een beloning op zich is.

In order to register and pay, please send your completed registration form and indication of your

All registration forms must be submitted to us before the deadline. Registration forms received after

the 5th of May will only be processed based on availability and limitations in the number of

competitors per category. The payment deadline is 23th May, in case of an invoice, the mentioned

invoice deadline. For payments received after the deadline an administration fee of € 5 per

competitor has to be paid, so please make sure your payment reaches us in time. This

administration fee has to be paid before the start of the event on the 28rd of May.

The organisation reserves the right to close the tournament registration after the deadline at any

time.

Eventuele administratiekosten moeten worden betaald voor 28 mei. De organisatie behoudt zich het

Duo system (Classic) – € 40 / couple

This amount must be paid to the Organising Committee, at the latest, on the deadline indicated in

the invitation. Late payments for registered participants carry a € 5 penalty per person and they

must reach the bank account of the organisers before the moment of physical registration atthe

official venue.

De bedragen moeten uiterlijk op de in de uitnodiging aangegeven termijn aan het organisatiecomité

zijn betaald. Late betalingen voor geregistreerde deelnemers brengt een boete van € 5 per persoon

moment van fysieke registratie op de officiële locatie.

Refund/cancellation policy

Restitutie/annuleringsvoorwaarden

The organiser reserves the right to cancel the event due to low enrolment or other circumstances

which would make the event non-viable. If the organiser cancels the event, registrants will be

offered a full refund based on their full registration fee. Should circumstances arise that result in the

postponement of an event, the organiser has the right to either issue a full refund or transfer

registration to the same event at the new, future date. The organisation is not liable for other costs.

Unless specifically stated, the deadline to receive a refund for your registration is 60 business days

before the event.

● Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund;

● Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event;

cancellation deadline;

● All refund requests must be made by the participant or credit card holder;

● Refund requests must include the name of the participant and/or transaction number;

● Refunds will be credited back to the original credit card used for payment;

● All event cancellations must be made in writing. Email is acceptable;

● Refunds will be granted up to 60 days prior to the start of an event;

● Cancellations made 30 days prior to a program will be subject to 50% cancellation fee;

● Cancellations received 30 days or fewer before the program will not receive a refund;

● Teruggave verzoeken moeten de naam van de deelnemer en/of transactienummer bevatten;

● Restituties worden teruggestort op de originele creditcard die is gebruikt voor de betaling;

● Alle annuleringen van evenementen moeten schriftelijk worden gedaan. Hierbij is het wel

noodzakelijk dat er een geldige e-mail afzender staat vermeld:

● Restituties worden verleend tot 60 dagen voorafgaand aan het begin van een evenement

● Voor annuleringen 30 dagen voorafgaand aan het evenement zijn 50% annuleringskosten

van kracht;

● Al zal geen restitutie worden verleend bij annuleringen 30 dagen of minder voorafgaand aan

het evenement

All competitors must have a legal passport of the nation they represent in the championship and

sports passport of their respective national federation!

Competitors that will reach the proper age in the present year ( from 01-01 to 31-12) have the right

of participation in the designated category.

vertegenwoordigen. Nederlandse deelnemers dienen zich ook te identificeren met het nederlandse

For the duo system (classic) the JJIF rules, as adopted at the session in Bogota

Colombia and active from 01-01-2018, apply for this tournament.

PLEASE NOTE the decisions and explanations from the JJIF Technical Congress in St. Petersburg

2010, adopted by JJIF GA and JJIF Board:

● The age is considered according to the year of birth, not the actual birth date of the

competitor.

● The athlete can compete in one higher age category – goes for fighting, duo and ne-waza

system (juniors can compete with seniors). However, a team (duo) made up of one Aspirant

and one Junior can only compete in juniors, not also in seniors (the Aspirant, although

member of a junior team, cannot jump over two age categories and compete with the

seniors)!

● If a competitor participates in the Duo competition, he/she is allowed to be part of a mixed

couple and of a couple of his/her gender on the same tournament. The organiser will

observe that the Duo men and women are scheduled earlier, while the mixed duo is

scheduled later the day. Control of entries and issuing of accreditation cards will take place

at the sports venue on 22rd and 23th of June, during registration. At least one team official

must attend in time to confirm the presence of all athletes and officials. The team official

must be able to show all official documents and passports of all team members (copies are

accepted).

Voor het duo-systeem (klassiek) gelden de JJIF-regels, zoals aangenomen

tijdens de sessie in Bogota Colombia. Deze regels zij geactiveerd vanaf 01-01-

2018 en zijn dus van kracht voor dit toernooi.

LET OP: de beslissingen en uitleg van het JJIF Technical Congres in St. Petersburg 2010 zijn inmiddels

goedgekeurd door JJIF GA en JJIF Board:

● De leeftijd wordt bepaald aan de hand van het geboortejaar, niet de werkelijke

geboortedatum van de deelnemer.

● De atleet kan meedoen in een hogere leeftijdscategorie - (junioren kunnen concurreren met

senioren). Een team (duo) bestaande uit één Aspirant en één Junior kan echter alleen

deelnemen aan junioren, maar niet de seniorencompetitie (de aspirant, hoewel lid van een

juniorenteam, kan niet over twee leeftijdscategorieën springen en met de senioren

concurreren)!

● Als een deelnemer deelneemt aan de Duo-wedstrijd mag hij/zij deel uitmaken van een

gemengd stel en van een paar van zijn/haar geslacht op hetzelfde toernooi. De organisator

zal er attent op zijn dat de Duo-heren en -vrouwen eerder zijn gepland, terwijl het gemengde

duo later op de dag zal worden ingepland.

● Controle van inschrijvingen en uitgifte van accreditatiekaarten vindt plaats op de sportlocatie

op 22 en 23 juni, tijdens de registratie. Tenminste één teamofficial moet op tijd aanwezig zijn

om de aanwezigheid van alle atleten en officials te bevestigen. De teambeambte moet alle

officiële documenten en paspoorten van alle teamleden kunnen tonen (kopieën worden

geaccepteerd).

REFEREES FOR EUROPEAN CUP:

SCHEIDSRECHTERS BIJ DE EUROPESE CUP:

Each country should provide minimum 1 referee for up to 10 participants, 2 for up to 20

participants, and 3 for 21 participants and more. An € 800 fee will be requested for not having the

right number of referees and collected by the JJEU organisation on the spot (conditioned for

participation before the draw).

Referees should attend the briefing meeting on 23th of June at 08:00 AM.

Neither the organising committee nor the JJEU will be responsible for not respecting this obligation!

However, if there won’t be enough referees for the competition to take place in good conditions,

JJEU may decide to complement the pool of referees with national referees of the organising

federation – decided by JJEU Referee Committee.

Elk land moet minimum 1 scheidsrechter bieden voor maximaal 10 deelnemers, 2 voor maximaal 20

deelnemers en 3 voor 21 deelnemers en meer. Er zal een vergoeding van € 800 wordt gevraagd voor

● Competition organised by table with all participants getting a second chance;

● Computer program, approved by JJEU/JJIF

● Draw will be made by JJEU Sport Director and responsible official from the National

Federation, together with the IT specialist

● The draw will be done on saturday morning the 23th June and it is final!

● General mistakes discovered at the draw can be corrected by JJIF officials (such as wrong

name, persons with similar names put in wrong categories, etc.)

● Champions from the previous championship may not be in the same pool (if that is indicated

at the draw)

APPEAL COMMITTEE TO THE EVENT:

BEROEPSCOMMISSIE VAN HET EVENEMENT:

The Appeal Committee of the event is composed of 3 people(1 from the local organising committee),

appointed by the JJEU Board. Any member of the Appeal Committee is to be excluded from making

any decisions if the participant involved is from the same country. An appeal fee of 200 EUR must be

paid to the JJEU Treasurer before the appeal is filed (this amount will be returned if appeal is

successful). Appeal must be filed immediately after the situation occurs (a verbal announcement

and filed on paper), so the organiser may halt the competition to prevent the appealed situation

from continuing. The decision of the Appeal Committee is final.

Het Comité van Beroep van het evenement bestaat uit 3 personen (1 van het plaatselijke

organisatiecomité), benoemd door het JJJU-bestuur. Elk lid van de beroepscommissie moet

uitgesloten worden van het nemen van beslissingen als de betrokken deelnemer uit hetzelfde land

komt. Een beroepstaks van 200 EUR moet aan de JSEU-penningmeester worden betaald voordat het

beroep is ingesteld (dit bedrag wordt terugbetaald als het beroep is toegewezen). Beroep moet

onmiddellijk worden ingediend nadat de situatie zich heeft voorgedaan (een mondelinge

mededeling en op papier zijn ingediend), zodat de organisator de wedstrijd kan stoppen om te

voorkomen dat de aangevochten situatie doorgang vindt. De beslissing van de

Beroepscommissie is definitief.

medication or plan to take any medication, please check with your doctor whether your medication

You will need a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), if it does. JJEU/JJIF automatically recognizes all

Coaches accompanying the athletes to the tatami will wear the national team track suit with sports

shoes (closed). For the finals, formal clothes (with jacket) are recommended. Athletes on the podium

will wear the white competition gi, without any additional materials on their persons (flags, religious

symbols, bottles of water, slippers etc.), according to SportAccord guidelines.

Coaches die de atleten vergezellen naar de tatami dragen het nationale trainingspak met (gesloten)

sportschoenen. Voor de finales is formele kleding (met colbert) aanbevolen. Atleten op het podium
