My previous meeting on the subject of using Google Photos to get photos from your smartphone to the cloud and then to your computer, there were some remaining questions that made it necessary to address in better detail and clarity.

How does one save that “cute” photo to my computer.

Heck, how to I get the “cute” photo from my email to my computer.

And, how do I add photos to Facebook and email.

And a new piece, Google has introduced a new app that makes it easy to scan old photos into good quality digital photos to save and share.

Browser settings might be considered technical but let’s give it a try.Chrome: There is a 3 dot icon in the upper right. If you hover the mouse over this icon, a small window opens that describes this icon as “Customize and control Google Chrome”. Let’s go there. Choose Settings. At the bottom of this list is a link to Show Advanced settings. Click this to see more settings and scroll down to Downloads. There is an option for Download Location.

Firefox:

Internet Explorer: Gear icon in the upper right of the window. In some cases, there are two of these icons. Please click the uppermost one. Choose View downloads. In the lower left corner of the window is an Options link. This is the downloads option where one can change the download folder.

Do you recognize these?

Before digital photos, this is how we kept them.

Sometimes we went through them but, for the most part, these gathered dust.

However, with modern technology, we can digitize them with some hardware.

3 in 1 printer/scanner as well as a flatbed scanner are methods to scan photos that will make them digital photos.

Many of us already have a 3 in 1 printer/scanner. I do and have had a flatbed scanner at one point.

I’ve even scanned photos like my wedding photos from 1992 and it worked great.

But now, we can use our smart phone to do the same thing, although maybe not at the same quality.

These photos are 33 years old!

I used PhotoScan by Google to scan them to a digital photo.

This is a brand new app from Google.

It is on iOS and Android.

Although using a flatbed scanner will produce excellent results, using your smartphone is easy, quick and FREE. And the results aren’t bad at all.
