Making a change for Health Care in the US

Bosted System 1

These numbers will keep growing in the years to come:∙ In the US an estimated 20 million people will suffer from Alzheimer’s disease by 2050. Care for those people is estimated to cost $1.5 trillion per year.∙ 7.5 million people suffer from a heart attack each year in the US. In 2010 the cost of caring for those with cardiovascular diseases in the US is approaching $500 billion annually.∙ 350,000 children are born each year with autism in the US. By the year 2020 the annual cost of caring for autistic individuals will range from $200 to $400 billion per year.

The service, care, and support for the elderly and disabled are in all aspects vital and necessary and represent a moral obligation for all of us.Families, relatives, churches, social charities, and public authorities are facing this growing and demanding task daily and encounter many financial and practical challenges.

We believe that we can do better – together - with co-operation across families, providers, services, systems, borders, and even across continents. We believe that the elderly and disabled need to be an even stronger and greater part of our society. We want these valued groups to have the possibility of being an even more integrated and contributing part of our society. We also believe

it is important that their families and the com-munities playing an active role in achieving this. We are confident that with better care, better services, and better equipped families and pro-viders, we can help these citizens feel more in-tegrated in society and in this way contribute to improve their quality of life.

Team Online’s aim is to assist hard working fami-lies and professional providers in ensuring opti-mal conditions for the care of the elderly and dis-abled, so that each person can reach his or hers full potential. Our vision is to help and support people in improving their quality of life through better and more efficient care.

The need for Care is growingThe elderly and disabled are among the biggest and yet most vulnerable groups in our society. In the US there are more than 40 million people over 65 years old, and more than 32 million children and adults living with severe disabilities.

Bosted System2

Team Online is a software development company – but we are by no means an ordinary IT company. We see ourselves as a care provider and we follow the process from start to finish in the business of helping the disabled and providing more time for care.

Team Online’s many employees have worked with the disabled and have first-hand experience of how the daily life and activities take place in homes, centers, and other facilities for people with disabilities.

We are headquartered in Odense, Denmark, with branch offices in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Phoenix, Arizona. In 1998 Denmark passed a legislation requiring documentation of the care for the elderly and people with disabilities. Since then Team Online has been working on supporting social workers in documenting their efforts.

The Scandinavian Social Welfare Model

Most of the social services in Denmark are financed by taxes. The Ministry of Social Service is charged with making an active contribution to a knowledge-based social policy that contributes to ensuring that citizens are provided with effective social services.

Denmark has several thousand small and large private and public institutions, counseling ser-vices, etc. within the area of marginalized children and adults which offer specialist services for e.g. physically and mentally disabled residents, margin alized children, battered women, alcoholics and drug addicts.

Successful growth businesses

Team Online has grown every year for more than 12 years. Based on our continued growth and excellence, we are one of only a few companies in Denmark to receive the Gazelle Award in

Team Online A Social Technology provider

2008, 2009, and 2010 from the Danish business magazine Borsen. The Gazelle Award has been awarded to Denmark’s fastest growing business elite, and over time the Gazelle Award has become a synonym for successful growth businesses.

Our growth has not been based on aggres-sive sales tactics or fancy marketing, but on the fact that our products work. Our services, support, and products ensure better care for people with disabilities and less administration and reduced cost for the providers. The final result is stronger, safer and more satisfied citizens and families.

A few references from the social field

– As a relative I have access to selected data of my dis-abled child through Bosted Extranet. Now, I can keep an eye on what is going on in Simon’s life. I can leave a message or ask questions etc. whenever I have time. Before the Bosted System, the staff often only had the time to call me back in the morning when I was really busy at work. Now, I can leave a message in forums, and I then know that our contact always checks the Bosted System when she is next on duty.

Tina Vesthald, Relative, Åbjerggaard

– Employees find that the Bosted System has been developed for their professional group, and they sense that the system is based on extensive knowledge about the specific conditions in their daily work.

Anni Schøtt, Centre Manager, Fønixgården

– In the long term, there is no doubt that we can free up time for the one-to-one work. Right now, we are in-vesting in the system, but I am convinced that we will have recouped the cost in a year or two in the form of enhanced efficiency.

Niels Ole Bennedsen, Centre Director, Rendbjerghjemmet

Bosted System4

Team Online’s main product – The Bosted System – is all about people and not technology. The Bosted System is a web-based socio-educa-tional software system that enables professional providers, families/relatives of people with dis-abilities, and public administrators to ensure more time for care through a drastic reduction in administration.

Bosted is the Danish name for “homes for dis-abled”, but the Bosted System is in use in many different areas of the social service sector such as group homes, residential and activity centers for the disabled, crisis centers, special schools, and day centers for addicts.

More than 28,000 social service workers in Denmark are using the Bosted System, and they have been and continue to be the main driving force in the development of the system. The Bosted System is in use in practically all Danish counties and cities, and we are now as-sisting more than 40% of the Danish providers in the social sector for people with disabilities.

Our motto is “More Time for Care”, and we are proud of the results that the Bosted System, our services, and support function have created for people with disabilities, their families, and their providers. The Bosted System has been exclu-sively created for care providers of the disabled by experts from the sector. Numerous indepen-dent research reports and evaluations have clearly documented that the use of the Bosted System ensures efficient daily operations, create more time for care and meets all specific requirements of the disabled care providers and the families of people with disabilities.

The Bosted System doesn’t require any installa-tion, expensive start-up costs or investments in new hardware. All that is needed is a computer with a recent browser and an internet connec-tion!

The system provides secure, around the clock access to all relevant information for any autho-rized person from any computer anywhere in the US – and it will quickly become essential for dia-logue, insight and co-operation among all people caring for the disabled.

The Bosted System

More Time for Care

The Bosted System guides, assists, and enables care providers to: Greatly reduce the administration for invoicing, reporting, and documentation Manage and calculate prices and fees for stays, services and treatments Establish and focus on objectives for each individual person Specify, target, and implement services, activities, and treatments Document activities and results Have efficient co-operation with other providers Share know-how and procedures among staff Eliminate mistakes, miscommunication, and misunderstandings

With 12 years of experience Team Online has documented that the Bosted System is extremely user-friendly, efficient, safe and secure.

Bosted System 5

We believe that care for the elderly and disabled, as well as health care in general are global challenges, and that these challenges need to be addressed with input, inspiration and know-how from global and local players like you.Team Online’s aim in the US is to make a dif-ference, to make more time for care, and to give people with disabilities the possibility to gain even more independence and quality of life with the support of their families and providers.

We are focusing our expertise on helping providers manage and optimize their services. By doing that we allow the providers to spend more time with the clients - where it matters.Today, 32.5 million people live with a severe dis-ability, and among them, 14.3 million live with limitations in cognitive functions or a mental or emotional illness that impacts their daily activities.

Our mission is to provide optimal solutions, resulting in better service, and more time for care – but we need your help. We have spent more than a year on adjusting the Bosted system to conditions and procedures in the US – but we still need your input, information and know-how.Team Online has a long history of working with the disabled and their families, providers, organi-zations, universities, schools, and authorities. As we want to become an active and dynamic partner in the disabled care sector in the US, we are looking for partnerships and co-operation in a number of fields:Testing User Groups Research Projects Events Business Partnerships

Making a change for Health Care in the US

A few references from the social fieldMore than 28.000 social service workers are using the Bosted System on a daily basis for administration, documentation and knowledge sharing across units, departments, institutions and authorities.

I believe that in this day and age, we need to be more efficient and effective, especially in our line of work. The Bosted training allows this as, at the click of a button, it can give you all the information you need. This saves a

lot of time going through files and papers with the risk of not finding the information that you want.

Andrew Baberi, social educational worker, Richmond Foundation

The Bosted System has given us better control of the documentation and easier access to the necessary information. It is no longer just stored in our heads.

Pernille Hyldtoft, Head of Department, Minibo

We have digitized almost all the daily documentation work. Of course we still have paper, but it is kept to a minimum. Everything is accessible to all relevant staff in the Bosted System.

Michael Henriksen, centre manager, centre for mentally disabled, Assens municipality

I do not mind at all if the social educators spend half an hour a day away from their care work, documenting and writing digital logbook entries. As long as it means that we, the mentally disabled, get better opportunities for living our lives just like everyone else.

Lisbeth Jensen, Chairman of National Association for Mentally disabled
