“Carpy!” You can hear that ringing out in the halls of the

schools when she works as an aide, in the hall of St. Michael’s

when she works Bingo every week, or when she walks in

the back door of the Community Center. Linda Carpenter is

everywhere and knows everybody. She is one of the funniest,

most unassuming people you have ever met. She loves

people—interacting with them, helping them, laughing with

them, and picking on them.

You will see her working the Marathon Dance concession stand, St. Michael’s bereavement

com-mittee, any Community Center event, and Bingo every Thursday night (when she isn’t at a

grandkid’s game, that is). Linda embodies the hometown Bulldog girl and can tell you anything

you want to know about anybody, including what she hears on the scanner. Volunteerism is about

warmth of spirit and soul—Linda Carpenter has both in spades.

Volunteer Spotlight

Linda “Carpy” Carpenter

A BIG Thank You To Our VolunteersThe Center appreciates that time and talent are precious and wants every minute that you

volunteer with us to be worthwhile. We recently revised our volunteer process to include

standardized forms, training, schedules, tracking, and recruitment. With the myriad of volunteer

opportunities, we defined job descriptions hoping to match the skills and interests of our

volunteers with activities and tasks.

Thinking of volunteering or need to fulfill a service requirement? NOW is the time to reach out to

the Center. We work with school programs, service organizations and court-mandated individuals

to provide a meaningful volunteer experience. Without your service, we would not be able to meet

the needs of those who live in our community. Our goal is to ensure the most effective utilization of

your volunteer service in fulfilling our commitment to meet the needs of our community.

Back To School Program

On behalf of the Moreau Community Center’s Board of Directors, staff and those who we assist through this program, we would like to thank you for your support. This year we were able to provide 36 children with necessary school supplies and a gift card for clothing and shoes.

Each year the Moreau Community Center continues to advance its mission of meeting the multi-generational needs of the community. Without support from individuals and businesses in our community, important programs such as the Back to School Program would not be possible. We can’t thank you enough for making a difference in the lives of the people of our community.

The kids had a BLAST, either all summer or just a week, they packed more in a day (with the help of our trained staff) than thought possible. Beach day, arts and crafts, athletic and recreational activities, gardening, or just simple board games were all part of the fun.

The holidays inevitably cause us to focus on how richly we are blessed. There is an almost universal understanding of what we really have to be thankful for; family, friends, and lasting relationships. In this spirit, the Board of Directors and Staff at the Moreau Community Center send you our sincere thanks for supporting us in the past. We are a Community Center that derives its identity from the support of our community members.

With your generosity and support, last year we were able to help 167 FAMILIES (67 elderly, 197 adults, and 210 children) at Thanksgiving with a wonderful dinner. At Christmas we helped 177 FAMILIES (67 elderly, 199 adults, and 218 children) with food, clothing, and toys.Beginning October 2, 2017, we will be accepting applications for recipients. Please visit the Center Monday - Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM
