BANDON —The Bandon-By-The-Sea Rotary Club will hold its third-annual Veterans Golf Tournament to benefit Coos County veterans.

The fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Bandon Crossings Golf Course, 87530 Dew Valley Lane, Bandon.

All net proceeds will go to veterans organiza-tions serving Coos County. The tournament will be a scramble, with men from the white tees, women from the red, no handicaps, all scratch. Make your own pairings or pair up with other vet-eran supporters. Tee time is 10 a.m. for the shot-

gun start. Cost is $75 and includes green fees, golf cart and lunch with free bar and prizes galore at 3:30 p.m. A hole in one nets a $10,000 cash award.

"No handicap required, just a fun day and a great way to honor our veterans and remember 9/11," said Art Roberson, event chairman.

Registration can be made through the Bandon Crossings pro shop, 541-347-3232 or online at bandoncrossings.com. Preregistration is preferred.

For more information, call or text Roberson at 541-551-1696.

BANDON - The Cranberry Kitchen Food Fair (formerly Queen of the Kitchen) features desserts and baked goods, relishes and preserves, side dishes, entrees and beverages. And they all have one key ingredient: cranberries.

Contestants of all ages may enter in any of the seven categories. All entries must include a cran-berry product and no entries can be items that are sold or marketed commercially. Categories are: appetizers, side dishes, main dishes, desserts, bev-erages, baked goods, and other items (e.g., condi-ments, relishes, preserves, spreads, sauces/salsas).

Cranberry Kitchen Food Fair entries are on display at the Old Town Marketplace Farmers Market on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14. Entries are accepted from 10 a.m.-noon Friday and

judging begins at 1 p.m., with ribbons awarded to cooks for each food category. The cook with the best overall entry is named the Cranberry Kitchen winner. All ages are invited to submit their entries. For further information and to register, go to: https://bandon.com/cranberry-kitchen/

The overall winner will be announced at half-time at the Cranberry Bowl on Friday night, and will ride in the parade Saturday morning.

BANDON – As a highlight of its 2019 Oregon and California fall tour, The Albanie Falletta Band will mark its first visit to Bandon with a rousing performance of soulful jazz and blues, bringing the unique rhythms and sounds of New Orleans to local music fans. The concert, a special event of Bandon’s 2019 Cranberry Festival, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Sprague Community Theater, 1202 11th St. SW.

A rising star on the jazz and blues scene, Albanie Falletta has an irresistible voice reminiscent of early jazz singers. As a guitarist, she has the panache and technical mastery to establish her place among the “elders,” and as a natural heir to some of the greats.

Joining Falletta on stage will be a trio of highly accomplished musicians. Cindy McDermott, from

Asheville, North Carolina, brings her soft and sultry voice, as well as some impeccable mandolin playing to the musical mix. Ronnie Ontiveros and Ben Bonham, from Hood River, form a tight musical team. Bonham is a masterful guitar and steel guitar player, while Ontiveros holds down the bass duties with a rare skill and delight.

The Albanie Falletta Band’s Sept. 14 concert in Bandon is sponsored by Coastal Sotheby’s International Realty, with additional sponsorship support from Banner Bank, the Coos County Cultural Coalition and Sweet Insurance Agency.

Tickets for the concert are $20, and are available at Bandon Ace Hardware and Bandon Mercantile. Tickets also may be purchased online at www.eventbrite.com.
