MorphFamous:Inventors of Morphsuits invite fans to create costume of the future for reward worth up to $50,000MorphCostumes vows to make someone ‘rich and famous’ this Halloween by launching innovative design initiative in a bid to create the first ever ‘MorphPreneur’

Famous for its all-in-one spandex costumes, Morph Costumes has today launched ‘MorphFamous’ the world’s largest costume design challenge in the lead up to Halloween. Designed to make one costume enthusiast ‘rich and famous’ and to also discover some of the best hidden design talent across the world. Not only does the winner stand to pocket $10,000 as prize money, they will also have their design put into production and then sold across the globe, with them taking home a percentage of the profits from the sales of their design, which could be up to $40,000 in just the first year.

Gregor Lawson, Co-founder of MorphCostumes commented:“Innovation and creative design is at the heart of everything we do, and we want to celebrate some of the best undiscovered talent out there in the world and offer them the best job in the world. MorphFamous is an incredible opportunity for anyone who loves Halloween, costumes or design and wants to see if they have what it takes to be crowned the most creative in the entire world when it comes to crafting an awesome Halloween costume – forget your vampires and witches, this is a chance for people to show the world their awesome imagination and creative prowess when it comes to designing the Halloween costume of the future.”

Budding designers can submit entries into a number of different categories throughout October on the Morph Costumes website, with the public being invited to show their support and vote for their favourites. A shortlist of the 10 designs that receive the most votes will be announced just before Halloween and the winning design will be chosen by a panel of judges and announced live on TV just before Halloween on 27th October.

When the public voting has closed, the shortlisted costume designs will be passed on to the official judges to make the final decision – this panel includes: ex-NASA engineer Mark Rober, founder of the MorphCostumes innovation division MorphLabs, and YouTube prankster sensation and recent star of the Toyota advert Rahat, to collectively decide who shall be crowned as the first ever MorphPreneur, with more judges also set to be announced throughout Halloween. Mark also stars in the official launch video here: http://morphfamous.morphsuits.com/about.

The inspiration for MorphFamous came from years of costume fans sharing their design concepts on the company’s Facebook page, home to over 1.4 million costume fanatics. Last year, a passionate Morphsuits fan called Kyle created a design using a white Morphsuit and posted it on the Facebook page – one year later, MorphCostumes worked with him to create the design and it’s now available to purchase worldwide.

MorphCostumes has created the design challenge to give costume enthusiasts the chance to gain global recognition for their ‘ingenious’ creativity and also be financially rewarded for years to come, as the winning design will be sold globally from 2015.

We know there is a gargantuan amount of talent out there, and with MorphFamous we wanted to give someone the best job in the world. We’re we are so excited to offer someone the opportunity to share their amazing vision with the rest of the world.”

What is MorphCostumes?Founded in 2009, and originally called ‘Morphsuits’, the costume brand was created by brothers Fraser and Ali Smeaton and friend Gregor Lawson - MorphCostumes is now the costume phenomenon taking over the world.

In 2009, the range of costumes included just six plain coloured Morphsuits. Five years on, the range of costumes has expanded to include: digital designs created by ex-NASA engineer, Mark Rober that integrate wearable smartphone technology to animate the designs, for example Halloween costumes that display real life beating hearts or open flesh wounds filled with maggots. The range also includes digital Christmas jumpers as well as a host of officially licensed costumes, for example, Power Rangers and Tetris blocks that use pop-up tent technology, and a gargantuan amount of other varieties in between.

2014 saw the launch of MorphCostumes to pave the next phase of the company’s future and to further cement the brand as the first household name in the costumes sector, following the launch of a new brand identity, advertising campaign, expanded range of costumes, commerce website and, packaging and customer experience. MorphCostumes is passionate about innovation, so there is a huge amount of exciting NPD in the pipeline for later this year and beyond, so watch this space…
