Mosaic meets at Strathcona Church in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Position: Artist in Residence & Community Connector $20/hr for 8hr per week Weekly hour allotment: 4 hours on Sundays 1:30-5:30 pm for community gathering time; 4 hours flex time for study, preparation, community connection, relationship building, and administrative tasks. One year contract with the possibility of extension. Responsibilities: Provide opportunities for artistic expression and exploration for community members Participate in cultivating a community that enables slow, gentle, and transformative mutual healing Work collaboratively with the Community Theologian and Coordinator to facilitate weekly gatherings Provide relational continuity for community life Occasionally lead weekly gatherings Provide spiritual and pastoral support for members Mosaic is looking for a person who is willing to join the community with a long-term vision of presence, fidelity, and relationship building. The successful applicant will be hired for who they are, not merely for the tasks and roles they are capable of performing. They will display a disposition of humility, curiosity, willingness to learn, and an openness to mutual transformation. A successful applicant will demonstrate a passion for justice and an understanding of the complexity of colonization, urban poverty, trauma, violence, mental health, and addiction, and how these dynamics inform the way they exist relationally in the world and how this intersects with their art, spirituality, beliefs, and religious practice. Due to the nature, makeup, and context of the Mosaic community, Indigenous applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Non-Indigenous applicants are encouraged to clearly articulate how their positionality as a settler living and working on traditional ancestral territories of the Coast Salish peoples informs their work, practices, and spirituality.
