Remember the passage, "Wives be submissive to your husbands, and husbands love your wives as your own body as Christ loved the Church." Ephesians 5. (Jesus was willing to die for his wife.) Christ is doing his part to love all of you as himself. Now Church do your part and be submissive to his will. Also remember the Final Judgment, "whatsoever you do to the least of the brethren, you do onto me." We stand in the person of Christ when we show kindness and we stand in his person when we receive kindness too. Our final judgment will be determined by the love we shared and received. The Eucharist is called 'the source and the summit'. It is source because we are nourished by it. It is called summit because it is the highest for us to become, his body. Saint Augustine is famous for saying, "we become what we receive". The Eucharist is not about 'getting' Holy Communion, it is about being in communion with Christ and with others. Respectfully, Father Anthony

The Eucharist - (Part two)

So, this week I continue with the topic of the Eucharist. Last week

I mentioned about the presence of Christ in the Priest and in the

Eucharist. Christ acts through the physical body, voice, mind and heart of

the priest to bring about the change to the bread and wine. During the

Second Vatican Council, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal

makes it clear that Christ Jesus is present in four distinct ways; the

People, the Priest, the Word of God, and then the Eucharist.

The first place that Christ is found present is in the congregation.

He is in you the community. Do you remember the words Christ spoke to

Paul before his conversion, "Saul, Saul why are you persecuting me?" Up

until his conversion Paul was tormenting the Christians. The response of

Christ specifically says that Paul had been persecuting Christ himself.

When someone is persecuting you because you are a Christian, they are

actually persecuting Christ himself. Think of it this way, Christ is the

groom and the Church is the bride. According to scripture, "the two

become one." The congregation is his body. Remember the passage, "Wives

be submissive to your husbands, and husbands love your wives as your own

body as Christ loved the Church." Ephesians 5. (Jesus was willing to die for

his wife.) Christ is doing his part to love all of you as himself. Now Church

do your part and be submissive to his will.

Also remember the Final Judgment, "whatsoever you do to the least

of the brethren, you do onto me." We stand in the person of Christ when

we show kindness and we stand in his person when we receive kindness too.

Our final judgment will be determined by the love we shared and received.

The Eucharist is called 'the source and the summit'. It is source

because we are nourished by it. It is called summit because it is the

highest for us to become, his body. Saint Augustine is famous for saying,

"we become what we receive". The Eucharist is not about 'getting' Holy

Communion, it is about being in communion with Christ and with others.

Respectfully,

Father Anthony
