No genera temor reverencial. EMMANUEL

To name someone or something means that we have a relationship with that entity. Family names identify us with our heritage; nicknames denote familiarity or a special bond. In the Old Testament, the meaning of a name ran deep. It identified one’s mission, even one’s very being. The amazing name “Emmanuel” was first uttered by Isaiah as he described to the frightened King Ahaz the promised one who would come to redeem the people. Emmanuel is not a frightening philosophical name, such as Omnipotent, Omniscient, Almighty. It does not connote distance and transcendence. It does not generate reverential fear. The name Emmanuel implies closeness and intimacy and compassion. Emmanuel is the name given to the one who is coming. It means “God is with us.” God is entrusted to the care of a virgin, who will bear this child. Only God would be so compassionate to draw so near, to be so available and vulnerable. Only God could love this well. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

COME GET AN APPLICATION TO MOST HOLY TRINITY SCHOOL!!!

Dear Wonderful Parishioners of Most Holy Trinity Parish, From all of us at school, we hope that you are having a good Advent Season as we all prepare for Jesus’ coming once again. We have so much work to do to prepare for him by the way we treat each other and make each day count. At school, we are excited about gathering food and presents for nine families to make their Christmas even more special. We are sharing Advent candles and prayers each day. Our eighth graders are focusing on the true meaning of the word HOPE. This is not only a very powerful word, it fills our hearts with promise for the new world that we are trying to build. On the top of our Christmas tree at Christmas in the Park, downtown San Jose we put a poster with an important message from our school. SPREADING PEACE, ONE CHILD AT A TIME That’s our goal at Most Holy Trinity School. We’re always looking for more help to reach our goal so please help us by spreading the message! Open House and Registration begins on January 26th, after all the masses. Come and see our school, our Science Fair and have our student leaders take you on a guided tour. May the peace of Advent and Christmas be with you always, Our Choir will be singing at Christmas in the Park on December 12th from 6-7 pm, in case you can make it!

We would like to thank all of our parishioners for their love and support of our new preschool. As we go into our second year of the preschool we have enrolled our maximum of 14 students in the morning and still have some spaces in the

afternoon.

Originally we had planned to expand the preschool this summer but, due to additional requirements from the city, we

were unable to start the construction. With support from parishioners and families at our school we hope to expand the

preschool in the future.

If you are interested in learning about the preschool and the afternoon spots that are available please call Miss Jessica

December 22, 2013 For the past three weeks I have reviewed healthy eating during the holidays 1) Eating at holiday work parties – take low calorie dishes. 2) Holiday beverages – limit the alcohol, add low fat milk to eggnog 3) Eating with family – use portion control, don’t forget your fruits and vegetables. Fresh is best. The holiday season is about family and food – and all too often, adding a few extra pounds to our waistlines. Being physically active throughout the entire year is important to maintaining a healthy weight. The American Heart Association recommends that children (up to age 18) get at least 60 minutes a day and adults get 30 minutes a day of moderately vigorous activity. Keep your family physically active when the weather gets chilly: Go for an afternoon or evening walk, jog or run – and bring the dog! As long as you’re dressed warmly any time of day can be enjoyable weather for taking a stroll or a jog. Take the kids to the park for a bike ride. If you don’t have a bike, you can walk and they can ride their bicycles or scooters. Climb up and down stairs. Start by climbing one step at a time, then move up to two. (You can do this at your job, apartment complex or at the mall) Enjoy work out videos or come to our Zumba class!
