October 20, 2014 Most Valuable Brands are Top OOH Advertisers A recent report revealed the top global brands of 2013, most of which are also top OOH advertisers. Eight of the top 10 global brands as listed in the Best Global Brands survey released last month are in the top 100 OOH advertisers, and four are in the top 10. McDonald’s, the 7th most valuable brand in the world, was the top OOH advertiser of 2013 and has been since 2010. McDonald’s has been embrac- ing OOH for decades, has won multiple OBIE Awards over the years, and was inducted into the OBIE Hall of Fame in 2003. Apple, which passed Coca- Cola to take the top spot in global brand value in 2013, was also the second high- est spender in OOH. Apple has taken home many OBIE Awards, and was in- ducted into the OBIE Hall of Fame in 2005. Microsoft and Samsung also share space in both the top global brands and top 10 OOH spenders lists. Samsung, number seven on the list of top OOH advertisers, has been a fan of OOH for years, but only recently made a significant shift to the top of the list with the release of its popular Galaxy smartphone. Microsoft continues to use OOH stra- tegically to promote its latest Windows products. Last year, Starcome Media- Vest won the OOH Media Plan Award of the Year for its Windows 8 campaign. “When we look at these top brands, most of which are technology com- panies, we see sales being driven by today’s younger generations,” said OAAA Chief Marketing Officer Stephen Freitas. “OOH’s ability to connect with young, mobile consumers is evident given these brands are also top OOH advertisers.” This Apple iPhone multi-format OOH campaign won a Silver OBIE in 2013. Most Valuable Brands are Top OOH Advertisers A recent report revealed the top global brands of 2013, most of which are also top OOH advertisers.

Eight of the top 10 global brands as listed in the Best Global Brands survey released last month are in the top 100 OOH advertisers, and four are in the top 10.

McDonald’s, the 7th most valuable brand in the world, was the top OOH advertiser of 2013 and has been since 2010. McDonald’s has been embrac-ing OOH for decades, has won multiple OBIE Awards over the years, and was inducted into the OBIE Hall of Fame in 2003.

Apple, which passed Coca-Cola to take the top spot in global brand value in 2013, was also the second high-est spender in OOH. Apple has taken home many OBIE Awards, and was in-ducted into the OBIE Hall of Fame in 2005.
