Their home already damaged by lava, this family attempts to save as many of their belongings as possible by cramming them into their VW bus.

Improvisation is an art form in southern Italy – as can be seen with this goat shed. It’s just a shame it isn’t a little higher!

No fun – but for the whole family: the sweet tradition of cement shoe racing.

An absolute must: Don Camillo and Peppone. It would have been a sacrilege to not include them!

These men in black are attempting to make exactly the opposite clear to the man in grey though.

In Atrani, the alleyways are often very steep – sometimes even too steep for a three-wheeled Ape. As this tomato transporter has also just realised.

It is also for this reasonthat donkeys continue to be used here to this very day, e.g. to collect the rubbish. But they are loaded onto trucks for longer distances though.

Speaking of donkeys: this young man has just been caught in flagranti. Something that would undoubtedly leave every mother shaking their rolling pin!

These holidaymakers have had a family- plus-sized portion of spaghetti delivered to the beach.

You may be surprised to learn that there is a huge so-called “Spaghetti Western” tradition in Italy. Bud Spencer, Terence Hill, Lucky Luke, the Dalton Gang, Winnetou, and the best-known scene from the classic ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’, are just a few of the highlights in the miniature Wild West town.

Sensational! We have recreated the life of Ötzi. He was a DJ and played what was considered bad music (at the time). His adversary (a professional archery) had convincing arguments, hence he was excluded from his tribe.

Unfortunately, this motif may only make sense to German speakers. We will explain it to all others simply with the new ‘butt swap’ trend.

Marble quarry The quarry is on the left, behind the bridge. The marble blocks are first transported under this by cable railway up to a narrow gauge railway. An inclined lift is then used to transport the wagons back down into the valley (Lasa Marble Railway) where they are processed at Lasa marble works. The stones are used to create innovative products, such as marble palms and fear-instilling sculptures for your front garden.

All buildings have been created by hand according to real-life motifs.

Roma Termini The city’s main railway station. The original has 32 tracks, our model only 16. It is possible to see all the way from the car park through the station to the tracks.

St. Peter’s Basilica and Square A replica on a scale of 1:160, though the height is approx. 1:100 (adjusted to the figures). Incl. colonnades with approx. 22,000 individual pieces. All 200 figures on the roof have been hand finished using Preiser figures and serviette snippets.

Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II Scale of 1:130 for the area and approx. 1:100 for the height (adjusted to the figures). Approx. 2,000 pieces. The façade lighting can be controlled by a button and 3D video mapping projections can be seen at night.

Colosseum Scale of 1:130 for the area and approx. 1:100 for the height (adjusted to the figurines). Created in approx. 4,000 working hours from around 2,000 individual pieces made in-house.

Trevi Fountain It is customary to toss a coin into the largest fountain in Rome. This is also possible in Wunderland – though the coins first embark on an eventful journey before being put to a good cause.

Does this sound familiar? You’re on the Spanish Steps and actually only want to visit the pretty church at the top. But the route there is expensive and full of steps. Countless street vendors, pantomime artists and talented portraitists block your path. There are rumours that someone once managed to reach the top ... Unconfirmed rumours, of course.

The concept of ‘plagiarism’ existed long before it was used to refer to Chinese companies or German politicians. Indeed, plagiarism was in fact already widespread in Antiquity. And back then, it involved the Vatican simply pilfered stones from the nearby Colosseum to build St. Peter’s Basilica. Whether delivery kangaroos were in fact then used to transport the stones is still open to debate.

Speaking of St. Peter’s Basilica: at this very moment, the renowned Urbi et Orbi address is being given. We’ve actually recreated the Pope’s entire day for you: at the click of a button, watch him move from breakfast into his study, on to blessing an audience before heading back to his o�ce, then on to prayers before dinner ... Papa mia!

One of the most famous Italians was not actually known as an Italian: Bud Spencer, alias Carlo Pedersoli. While he may now have gone to that big ranch in the sky, his spirit lives on in our hearts and bruises. Hence there is of course also a plaque commemorating this icon of Italian film in our miniature Rome. Did you know that he once came fifth at the Olympics in the 100 m freestyle?

It is the ultimate tourist trap. A beautiful accomplice asks for directions on a map in a scale of 1:87 while her partner in crime discretely relieves an unsuspecting yet extremely obliging tourist of their wallet. Peddlers of extremely a�ordable luxury watches are said to also be about.

You are undoubtedly familiar with the concept of energy e�ciency categories. They are increasingly being introduced by the EU as sales criteria for the sake of the environment. And because it is so commendable, this family is demonstrating with pride how much washing it can dry at once on a washing line.

Nature has ways of restoring the ecological balance. Because humans tend to overdo things, it simply lets carnivorous plants loose on them. Et voilà: balance restored

In the family-run Fattoria La Vialla in Tuscany, natural regional ingredients are used to prepare very tasty organic foods and wine. And the entire “gang” regularly sits down to celebrate together in style – with huge pizzas, of course!

San Gimigliano A mixture of San Gimignano with its towers (the richer the family, the higher their tower) and the cli�-top town of Pitigliano.

Riomaggiore The town is known for its railway station. The platforms end at both sides in tunnels.

Schiara An idyllic mountain side village at the coast near Campiglia. Not regularly inhabited since the 1950s, today most houses are holiday homes. Their simple construction is typical of this region. Favourite spot of our head of model building, Gerhard Dauscher.
