The Motio Application Development Framework, MotioADF is

perfect for IBM Cognos customers who want to extend, customize

or embed the IBM Cognos 8 artifacts in custom portals and

applications. The MotioADF suite enables companies to efficiently

bring reliable, customized business intelligence solutions to every

desktop. Typically what would take a company 100 lines of raw

IBM Cognos SDK code can be accomplished in approximately 5

The MotioADF product has four distinct layers that developers can

utilize as needed:

MotioADF Toolkit: The Toolkit layer provides a powerful,

object-oriented interface on top of the IBM Cognos SDK.

Operations such as report generation, report execution, content

store management and metadata manipulation are greatly

simplified using the MotioADF Toolkit layer.

MotioADF Services: The MotioADF Services layer provides a

rich, persistent object model and implements a series of services

which extend and augment the default functionality available in

IBM Cognos. This layer provides such features as:

Report Service - provides for asynchronous report execution and

output management.

Fragment Service - externalize common report fragments that

are dynamically included into standard reports at runtime.

Content Management Service - manage content as it appears

in your custom interface.

Report Profiles (enhanced IBM Cognos Views); flexible options

for how users run standard reports; add additional runtime filters,

vary output and delivery options, override default sorts,
