Fonderie Bartalesi’s supply chain starts from construction of new tooling through the newest technologies, last-generation CAD CAM programmes, and carries on with production in sand, sand and resin and gravity, according to customers’ various needs.

The company’s finishing divi-sion is provided with all the best technologies, including dual pal-let machines to cut feeder heads for mass-production. Fonderie Bartalesi has an internal labora-tory for analysis and research, where chemical analysis, hard-ness test, metallographic analysis and gas porosity tests are carried out by highly qualified personnel. X-rays and ultrasounds are car-ried out on request.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTSCast iron

The most important develop-ment is that of the production of cast iron, which will comple-ment that of bronze to respond completely to client requests, and which came into effect as of June this year. This cast iron will be used in the production of moulds, bottom plates, baffles and neck rings for the hollow glass industry. This development also includes a new 1,200 kilo induction furnace.

Bronze alloysFonderie Bartalesi has also

invested in a new and more performing bronze alloy, which has been specifically studied and tested for the production

of moulds – with higher ther-mal conductivity, considerable hardness, easy weldability, with the possibility of thermal treat-ment – and continues to invest in the study and development of new technologies for mould manufacture.

Laboratory controlsThe company has its own in-

house laboratory where it carries out dimensional testing, chemical analyses, hardness and metallog-raphy tests, as well as an analysis laboratory with the most up to date technologies for sand con-trol. Last, but not least, Fonderie Bartalesi has also installed an electric furnace for thermal treat-ment testing on bronze moulds. Over the past few years, Fonderie Bartalesi has also installed a CNC machine for the creation of 3D models using a new CAD CAM system for 3D design and mod-elling, so as to improve casting precision and speed up delivery times.
