Edition 1703 Master Select

BRANDONS, Barbados, Nov. 5, 2017 – Mount Gay Distilleries, the oldest rum distillery

in the world, announces the annual limited-edition release of its heavily anticipated 1703

Master Select.

Crafted from Mount Gay’s oldest reserves, the 1703 Master Select blend includes 10 to

30 year old single and double pot and column still rums. Due to the scarcity of barrels necessary for this level of maturation, Mount Gay will only release 12,000 bottles,

individually numbered.

The 2017 batch of 1703 Master Select, continues a tradition of selective blending by Master Blender Allen Smith, the genius behind the critically acclaimed Mount Gay Rum. The bottles – which now feature a white and gold band below the cork – were bottled

and labeled individually by hand for a second consecutive year. In addition, each bottle will feature the expression’s details; including the release year, the exact casks the

golden liquid was matured in and the bottle number from 1 to 12,000.

“We created a distinctive taste profile for this year’s 1703 Master Select that leans heavily on time well spent in our rarest barrels,” said Allen Smith, Mount Gay Master Blender. “We are always meticulous about our aging and blending processes, and this has

allowed us to be as expressive as possible with this particular release – and any future releases of this rum. With the amount of time and care that goes in to making 1703

advice to pick your bottle up before they’re all out again!”

1703 Master Select pays tribute to the date marketed on a legal deed dated, February

20, 1703, that signifies the existence of a “Pot Still House” on Mount Gay’s sugarcane estate in Barbados, establishing Mount Gay as the world’s oldest rum producer. It is a

premium sipping rum, best enjoyed straight or with a few drops of water or an ice cube.

1703 Master Select will be available at select premium liquor and spirits stores in more than 35 markets including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Barbados, Australia, New Zealand, France and a few duty-free outlets. Offered in 750ml or 700ml

bottles dependent on country at 43 percent alcohol by volume (86 proof), 1703 Master Select will sell for a suggested retail price of $200.

1703 Master Select Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Rich amber, like warm burnished copper with even legs

Nose: A refined harmony of fruity rich vanilla, banana; and oaky and mocha notes

Palate: A delicious balance of raisin, spice and toast

Finish: Exceptional roundness with a long, delicate finish
