baCkground studies
The Mount Pleasant Secondary Plan is based upon the findings of three (3) major background studies that are well underway. They include:
a Landscape Scale Analysis and Subwatershed Study for Huttonville Creek and Fletcher’s Creek;
a Transportation Strategy and Creditview Road and Sandalwood Parkway Transportation Corridors Class Environmental Assessment Study; and,
a Community Design Study
The background studies support a “balanced approach” to the development of the Mount Pleasant Secondary Plan involving integration between natural environment, transportation and transit, and community design objectives. The completion of these background studies will assist in implementing a transit-oriented community that promotes environmental sustainability and a high standard of community design.

CoMPonent studies
In addition to the three major background studies, the Mount Pleasant Secondary Plan will be based upon the following component studies, namely:
Open Space (parks, trails and open space uses) Retail / Commercial and Institutional (shopping centres, schools, places of worship) Infrastructure (water, sewer and stormwater ponds) Cultural Heritage and Archaeological (heritage buildings and structures) Alternative Development Standards (reduced road widths, laneways, traffic circles)
These component studies will assist in drafting Secondary Plan land use designations and related policies that are important to future residents, such as housing form and density, shopping centres, elementary and secondary schools, places of worship, parks, trails and open space uses.
The component studies are nearing completion.
