by the presi ¬ dent of the body to sign the sheep- skin copy of the document The Court of Appeals yesterday sustained the act of the Legislature passed at the special session last springfixing a tax of one and one quarter cents a gallon on all recti- fied ¬ whiskey made within Ken ¬ tucky The discision means that the rectifiers will have to pay to the State between 300000 and 400000 unless the Supreme Court of the United States to which an appeal probably will be taken should reverse the decision of the Kentucky courts Reports from out in the State according to the friends of Jndge William H Holt indicate that the sentiment for him for the Republi- can ¬ nomination for Govenor is rapidly spreading Judge Holt says that he is not a candidate for the nomination in the sense of making a fight for it but that he would accept it if it were tendered him A E Wilson who is also a candidate for the nomination spent Monday with Richard P Ernst chairman of the Republican State Central
