Behavioural Expectations

As Principal, it is my role to ensure the safety, security, health and wellbeing of all of our staff and students.

At Mount Waverley North Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that everyone is treated with respect, fairness and dignity. We expect all employees, students, parents and visitors in the school to act accordingly.

Aggressive and disrespectful behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. We must set positive examplesto our students when dealing with conflict or disagreements. If you have a concern or issue, the appropriate andbest way forward is to raise this concern with a member of the Principal Team. We would ask you to articulatethe issues calmly and in a manner that is consistent with our school values. Our Statement of Values and SchoolPhilosophy is available on our school website.

Thank you for your support with these expectations.

Walk to School Month

Studies show that it takes 30 days to build a habit. The longer we do something healthy, the more likely thathealthy habit will stick. That’s why Walk to School lasts for an entire month, rather than a single day. It’s aboutbuilding healthy habits for life. Students will record how many times they walk, ride or scoot to and from schoolduring October, to promote this initiative and living a healthy lifestyle.

On Wednesday 24th October, a special Fitness Club session will be held at school from 8.15am-8.50am tocelebrate Walk to School Month. The PFA are supporting this event by providing a small snack and drink to allstudents who Walk, Ride or Scoot to school that day.

Every October, Walk to School encourages Victorian primaryschool kids to walk, ride or scoot to and from school. It’s a greatway to help students learn healthy habits and achieve therecommended 60 minutes of physical activity, every day.

Along with the health benefits, active travel options to andfrom school reduces traffic congestion, saves on parking andhelps the environment. So it’s great for the entire schoolcommunity.

We have had fantastic feedback from both our younger and older students who have attended the service andfrom parents as well.

A reminder that all families will need to register with Team Kids to utilise their service. We would encourage allfamilies to register with Team Kids (at no cost), even if not a regular user of the service, in case an unexpecteddelay requires you to use the service.
