Who is InvolvedThe Mountain Plains MHTTC team includes faculty and staff from the University of North Dakota (UND), program staff from the Behavioral Health Program at the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education (WICHE), and staff at the Center for the Application for Substance Abuse Treatment (CASAT) at the University of Nevada-Reno.

Mental Health Technology Transfer Center Network
Mountain Plains (HHS Region 8)
Purpose of Mountain Plains MHTTCThe Mountain Plains MHTTC provides comprehensive training, resources, and technical assistance to mental health providers and other practitioners in Region 8. The team develops new, and identifies existing, resources which are then disseminated and accessible across the region and the MHTTC network.
There is a specialized focus on rural and frontier mental health. The team will also build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in the region and nationally.
Mountain Plains MHTTC ServicesThe Center will serve HHS Region 8, which includes the states of Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.
Training and consultation will be provided to the public mental health workforce, inclusive of areas of pre-professional, post graduate, and continuing preparation.
Anticipated trainings and technical assistance will include topics such as:
• Suicide Prevention• Assertive Community Treatment• Recovery Oriented Systems of Care• Psychiatric Advance Directives• Motivational Interviewing• Crisis De-escalation• Assessment• First Episode Psychosis• School Based Mental Health• Assisted Outpatient Treatment• Cognitive Behavioal Therapy
Funding for this 5-year project began on August 15, 2018.
