J-J Hooks MaSH Free-Standing Receives FHWa eligibility LetterTo fully comply with the May 26, 2017 FHWA guidelines, Easi-Set completed the full suite of required MASH TL3 crash tests by performing the 3-10 small car crash test. This test was conducted by the Texas Transportation Institute, College Station, TX on November 14, 2017, completing the two required TL3 tests. The 3-11 test was completed in January 2017. This new J-J Hooks freestanding barrier, along with the previously MASH TL3 tested J-J Hooks restrained barrier (bolt-down or pin-down), are fully compliant with MASH TL3 requirements. Their availability in the marketplace is two years ahead of the “sunset”

date requirements contained in the January 7, 2016 AASHTO/FHWA Joint Implementation Agreement for MASH. The new MASH freestanding design will eventually replace the extremely successful NCHRP 350 TL3 design originally tested in 1999. Currently, more than 13,000,000 linear feet of J-J Hooks temporary barrier have been produced and installed worldwide. The MASH TL3 (Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware) 3-11 test uses a larger/heavier test vehicle (pickup truck weighing 5,000lbs) impacting at 62mph and a 25° angle imparting substantially more energy at impact compared to the vehicle (standard pickup) used in the NCHRP 350 test. The MASH TL3 3-10 test uses a small car (2,420lbs) also impacting at 62mph and an angle of 25°. The 3-10 and 3-11 crash test reports were submitted to receive FHWA Federal-aid Eligibility Letter B300. All J-J Hooks barrier designs utilize the same J-Hook connection system which provides the industry’s fastest installation and removal capability, has integral self-aligning connection guides, and requires no loose hardware. — Moffette Tharpe

Mountain West Precast off to a Successful easi-Set Buildings StartMountain West Precast has gone gangbusters, since becoming an Easi-Set Buildings producer in early 2017, in selling multiple buildings and restrooms. In December 2017, they delivered their first building, a field-assembled 12x20 gabled pump house, to Leadville, CO at an elevation of 10,600 feet. Not ideal for the first building, given the extreme temperatures and with snow on the ground. Mountain West overcame the challenges to deliver and install a very successful first building. everything’s BiGGeR in texas!Lonestar Prestress has done it again! By casting and erecting a 30’ x 170’

Easi-Span Building, Lonestar has produced the largest building “footprint” to date. At 5,100 sf, the substation control building provided to Saber Power Services, is a prime example of the full spectrum of pre-engineered sizes available through the Easi-Set Buildings program. — Jeremy Smith

Lonestar Prestress Constructs and Relocates to new Facility After two years of meticulous planning, Lonestar Prestress Manufacturing Inc. has built a new facility and relocated their plant and offices from Houston, TX to a greenfield site in Bellville, TX, about 60 miles west of Houston.This multi-million-dollar investment in a green, sustainable state-of-the-art facility significantly expands Lonestar’s fabrication capacity to serve the growing demand for Easi-Set and Easi-Span prefabricated precast building systems in Texas and surrounding states. Their main fabrication plant is 60 feet by 700 feet. Throughout the inside of the plant, Lonestar has made use of Easi-Set Buildings with different designs, sizes, finishes, etc. for such uses as shop offices, restrooms & storage areas, but also to serve as sales models. Approximately 95% of precast production, including the assembly of buildings, will be indoors. Lonestar’s new modern administrative offices are a first-of-its-kind 40 feet by 60 feet Easi-Span Building. — Art Miles

Smith-Midland lands two major J-J Hooks barrier projectsBack-to-back wins, two of the largest J-J Hooks barrier orders in Smith-Midland’s history, 124,000 LF I-395 Express Lanes project and 245,000 LF I-66 Express Lanes project. Both are located in Northern Virginia and are part of public private partnerships (P3) developed to alleviate congestion in the Washington DC metro area. — Dale Neal

Oldcastle Precast completes easi-Span Building for Regional Utility ClientOldcastle Precast of Easton, PA worked with Henkels & McCoy’s Technical Services Group to provide a 30’x80’x15’ Easi-Span metering and regulation building for Public Service Electric and Gas. PSE&G services millions of electric and gas customers across the mid-Atlantic and northeast. The building, located in Sayreville, NJ will be used to monitor the recently upgraded gas line infrastructure in the area.— Dale Neal

Located in Elsa, Texas, Foremost specializes in paving, heavy civil construction, utilities, marine and site development for both large private and public clients throughout South Texas. nation’s Largest Parks Show a Success for easi-Set BuildingsEasi-Set Staff and Lonestar Prestress joined forces in The Big Easy from Sept. 26-28 at the Nation’s largest Parks and Recreation tradeshow. The exhibit booth highlighted Easi-Set Buildings’ full line of restrooms, concessions, press boxes, dugouts, storage, etc. to cover all of the Parks & Rec. needs. Property owner, St. Charles Ave. Prime Properties LLC, commissioned Architect firm John T. Campo & Associates to transform a vacant lot into a 190,000 sf modern addition to the prospering neighborhood. This will be the first new high-rise built in New Orleans in the over a decade. — Art Miles
