Relevant Departmental Notes: Assessment throughout this course is essentially formative; artists can re-visit criteria to arrive at their final assessment grades. Your personal blog is regarded as part of your work and will be marked accordingly, alongside your sketchbook

Evidence: This will be in the form of sketchbook work, final outcomes, research, photographs, blog books and written proposals.

Grading criteria: Pass / Merit / Distinction are attainable.

English and Maths: This project will include functional skills in English and Maths. Please bear in mind your industry requires eloquent use of English and accurate use of figures, to which end, the continuing development of these skills are firmly embedded inside all your work.

Note on copyright and plagiarism: This process will require independent research. Copying from the internet and additional sources is not appropriate and violates copyright and will be classed as plagiarism unless fully annotated and credited. You must make your work your own. We need to see that you have an understanding of the areas that you have researched. Copying work directly from ANY source will not be tolerated. If you quote ANY existing material you must put it in quotation marks and in brackets, attribute the source / author. For example: “Copying is cheating” (Robbie McGovan, 2013, Miskin Theatre)

For a more in depth analysis of what is required refer to the Assessment Criteria Grids on the Fine Art Blog

Miskin ArtsBRIEF

THE DESIGN BRIEF THEME IS MOVEMENT

You are hired to create a branding pack and marketing designs for the music, theatre, film or festival industry or for a new product, an exhibition, a road show, a political, humanitarian or environmental

organisation etc.(Your choice has to be fictional, which means you cannot use existing clients)

When you write your own brief you could choose to promote the following;

A new artist or a band that are to launch their debut albumA music festival or concert

Launch of a new bookA new film to be launched

A new play or musical to be launchedA new product to be launched in shops

A political, humanitarian or environmental movement with a messageAn exhibition or other event

You are also free to make up your own

You must produce a logo and a minimum of 3 different promotional items with unique variations.Examples could be poster, flyer, leaflet, CD cover, DVD cover, T-shirt print, banner, etc.

Make sure you create an obvious connection between the logo, the different promotional items and the style in which you think the client will prefer to be promoted.

This means you also will decide who the main target group will be.

Miskin ArtsNOTE THE FOLLOWING:

You cannot use any groups, bands, actors, images or characters that already exist. All pictures, photos, graphics and artwork must be created by you, from scratch.

Make sure you write good analysis after you have typed up your own brief.Research is important so you generate “general” information about branding, logos, layout,

typography, image making, information graphics and ready for print designs. This project is all about MOVEMENT

It’s up to you to integrate the theme into your designs and document the value of it throughout.Movement could mean equality and diversity.
