Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

People- There is only one person in this poster. That person of course is Harry Potter. He takes up a very large majority of the poster and is seen in a very defensive pose and so straight away we are given the impression there is going to be a lot of confrontation in this movie.Colour- This poster has a very obvious colour scheme of various shades of blue and grey. Straight away giving the impression it is going to be a serious film and a lot of cold, evil people will be involved.Title- The title is very obvious and large on the poster and is, of course, in the traditional Harry Potter writing and so instantly by just glancing at the poster it is an other movie in the Harry Potter series. There is no tag line on this poster.Other information- This poster has very little other information on it. The older posters used to have line after live of information at the bottom. This is gone now and it makes the poster look much more attractive. The ‘Coming soon’ phase is present instead of a date, which is probably done to create a small amount of suspense. There are also the names of the companies involved at the bottom but this of course is done for legal reasons.

17 AgainPeople- The one person on this poster is the teen character of Mike O'Donnell portrayed by Zac Effron (adult portrayed by Mathew Perry). His body takes up around half of the poster (the other half is taken up by information). He looks is very laid back and has a kind of ‘Cool kid’ of pose. So we are given the impression that he is most likely the ‘popular guy’Colour- The posters colour scheme is mostly white black and red although there are other colours involved. The colours don’t really reveal much about the film but they work very well together and there for the poster works very well.Title- The title is very obvious on the poster and there fore is very eye catching. It grabs the audiences attention and further interests them in the movie. The tag line for this movie is ‘Who says your only young once?’, this, whilst still not giving too much away, suggests that this movie is going to contradict this saying and maybe that this character WILL be young again. Other information- This poster has a slightly older format than the previous one. It has all of the information about the cast, crew and distribution companies. There is also a release date and so the audience may take note of the date and plan to go and see it. Finally there is the name of the actor Zac Effron and as he is a very well known actor this further advertises the film and may make people who are fans of his want to go and see it.

G.I.JoePeople- The person on this poster is Ripcord wearing his G.I.Joe suit. Although he is the focus of the poster we cannot see his face and so in a way he is still representing the entire G.I.Joe group. His body takes up around half of the poster with the other half being taken up by the title of the movie. It is clearly an action movie as he is wearing what looks like armour and is holding a gun. Colour- The posters colour scheme is mostly blue greys and blacks. The colours suggests that this film will be very dark and dangerous, and this along with he pose and the gun suggests there is also going to be a lot of risk and action.Title- Once again the title is very large, eye catching and takes up a lot of space on the poster. It works well because it grabs the audiences attention straight away. There is no tag line on this poster. In a way this creates a sense of mysteriousness by not revealing anything at all about the film.Other information-Once again this poster has a very modern new layout. It is very simple and only really contains two things. An image of the character and the title. The only other thing that is on this poster says ‘Summer 2009’ So it is a release date. There are also some company logos of all the different companies involved. Not only does this tell people what companies made the film it is also a form of advertising.

WolverinePeople- The person on this poster is of course Wolverine/Logan. The poster shows only him and his main character trait. His blades. It is an extreme close up and shows a lot of anger on his face, so just from the poster we are given the impression that this character is a very angry dangerous one.Colour- The only colours on the poster are the black background the flesh of his skin and the silver of his blades. This is very simple, and was most likely done to make sure that the blades are the focus of the poster. This is good because if any X-Men or Marvel fan saw this poster they would instantly know it was for Wolverine. The colours also suggest that this will be quite a dark dangerous movie.Title- This poster is strange because there is no title on it what so ever, nor is there a tag line. Although The X-Men films were insanely popular and everyone already knows the character of Wolverine and his blades, and so in a very controversial way the blades act as the title as they tell the audience know it will be Wolverine.Other information- This poster has the least amount of information out of everything. Where all the information usually goes all it says is “May 1” which is very effective because the audiences eye is drawn straight to the release date and it will stick in their mind, it works so well because there is no other information to distract you from this date.
