Membership categories with ICE
Student- Joining as a student member is free and is the first step to becominga professionally qualified civil engineer.
Graduate- Graduate membership of ICE is the ideal stepping stone to becoming
a professionally qualified engineer.
Technician Member- Technician Membership (TMICE) of ICE can be awarded to
a wide range of technicians practising in the broad area of civil engineering.
Associate Member- Associate Membership (AMICE) is open to a wide range of
technical and scientific specialists who are engaged in activities or a professionthat directly support or are closely allied with the work of a civil engineer
operating in the built environment.

Membership categories with ICE
Member- Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE) can beawarded to a wide range of engineers practising in the broad area of civil
engineering.
Fellow- Fellow is the highest grade of membership of the Institution and maybe awarded if you are or have been engaged in a position of responsibility
in the promotion, planning, design, construction, maintenance or management
of important engineering work.
Affiliate- If you work in a field associated with civil engineering, such as law
and geology, or you are a civil engineer who is not pursuing a professional
qualification with ICE you may be eligible to become an Affiliate member of
ICE.
Companion- If you work at the same level as a Fellow, but in a field relating to
civil engineering rather than in civil engineering itself, you may be eligible to
become a Companion of ICE.
