Wicklow. 4 June ST CHARLES LWANGA and his 21 companions (the youngest of whom was 13) were executed in Uganda between 1885 and 1887.for being Christians. 5 June ST BONIFACE (675 to 754) was a Benedictine teacher and preacher who, as Bishop of Mainz, helped spread the faith and reform the church in Germany. 6 June ST JARLATH (445-550) the first Bishop and patron saint of Tuam. 7 June ST COLMAN was the first Bishop of Dromore (Co. Down) in the 5th century. 9 June ST COLUMBA (521-597) was born in Donegal and is one of the three patron saints of Ireland along with St Patrick and St Brigid. He founded monasteries in Ireland and Scotland. 9 June ST EPHRAEM (306-373) from Syria was a composer of wonderful hymns and homilies.
