In 1984, the VSGA created the VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation a 501(c)(3) whose purpose remains to provide college assistance to young men and women with an interest in golf. Since its humble beginnings more than 35 years ago, the VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation has awarded $2.5 million to nearly 1,000 students.

Each year the VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation presents five named awards (Spencer-Wilkinson Awards, C. Dan Keffer Award, David A. King Award, Red Speigle Award, Richard Smith Award) along with a variable number of four-year and one-time merit scholarships, to Virginia high school seniors.

NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS

The Fleming Fund supports golfing activities for junior girls ages 7 to 18 who are not yet attending college including camps, tournament entries and more.

FLEMING FUND

A vision of former Virginia State Golf Association President Gib Palmer, the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame became a reality in June 2015 with the mission of recognizing excellence and honoring heritage. Visit the virtual Hall of Fame at VirginiaGolfHallOfFame.com.

The inaugural class included legendary playing professionals like Sam Snead, Curtis Strange and Lanny Wadkins as well as one of the nation’s most respected Rules of Golf officials in Clyde Luther; Virginia’s most accomplished amateur player, Vinny Giles; and Chandler Harper, who found success both as a professional player and as a teaching pro.

THE INAUGURAL CLASS

Honoring the rich history of golf in the Commonwealth on a yearly basis, with new honorees and a chance to celebrate tremendous memories while looking toward the future.

HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

Since 1904, the VSGA has been dedicated to providing golfers a full range of services for the good of the game and golf in Virginia. Today, the VSGA is comprised of more than 310 member clubs and more than 72,000 individual members. The VSGA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and offers substantial value and access to courses and golfers throughout the Commonwealth.

The VSGA is dedicated to serving clubs, golfers and would-be golfers in Virginia by providing educational opportunities, trainings, event organization and Handicapping management.

SERVICE

As a component of our service to golf, the VSGA provides educational opportunities through Rules of Golf and World Handicap System seminars to our 310 member clubs and 72,000 individual members.

EDUCATION

In the fall of 2020, the VSGA initiated a partnership with the national nonprofit Youth on Course. Through this partnership, Youth on Course members will pay just $5 for an 18-hole round at paritcipating Youth on Course courses while the balance is subsidized by the VSGA and Youth on Course.

With 750 juniors as part of the VSGA Junior Golf Circuit and another 1,500 juniors across Virginia at member clubs, the partnership offers the opportunity to expand access to the game across the Commonwealth and across the country for current and future junior golfers.

THE FUTURE

Donations to the VSGA’s partnership with Youth on Course allow the VSGA to subsidize rounds for Youth on Course members at participating courses across the Commonwealth. The support will make the game more accessible and affordable.
