• Measurex MPU Chassis from the

early 1980’s reached end-of-life

long ago.

– MPU was Measurex interface for

CD actuators

• ThermaTrol, AquaTrol, CalTrol,

SteamTrol

– MPU withdrawn from sale in 1992

• Replaced by Profile Managers with

GE 90/70 PLC

• Whatever parts still available

today are offered only under the

'repair exchange' procedure or a

'level 1 down' with return

afterwards.

• Drop-in replacement for the MPU Chassis assembly

– Ref: Models 2573 and 2575 interface sub-systems in Production

Release documents

– Used for ThermaTrol, CalTrol, and AquaTrol actuators.

• The kit replaces the complete MPU chassis and all PCBs

– Ribbon-cable connections and functions all compatible with the

original chassis.

– All existing power-switching electronics and terminations to the

actuators are to be retained and remain unchanged.

– Replaced components include

• MPU Chassis / Power Supply (08343800),

• MPU Processor (05365800)

• PAV interface boards (05287000).

• The new and improved MPU upgrade kits dropped right

in. There is one card (processor) that requires some simple

configuration (a jumper and a switch). On the old MPU’s, the

Aquatrol, Thermatrol, and Caliper controls have unique processor

cards/proms. The MPU upgrade kits have cards are

interchangeable between other MPU upgrade kits, reducing the

amount of spares required.

• ….Things went great. We haven’t had any issues with them so

far – over a year.

• SteamTrol – End of Life

– Very limited parts support; recommend replacement with Devronizer

– Note: XP10 steam actuator upgrade NOT available for SteamTrol

• ScaniValve interface - End of Life

– Unsupported

– Replace ScaniValve interface with IDP II (CDWeb)

– IDP for SteamTrol must be set up for 3-15 psi (not 6-30 psi)

• ODX, RTU Modbus, Modbus TCP, and OPC are currently supported

protocols.

• 200-100, SCL, or ABB Microset serial protocols are not supported by

CDWeb systems.

• Beware: HP or ET systems with only 200-100 links cannot use

IDP. Yet another reason to upgrade now.

– Used only for legacy actuators (no new actuators use duty cycle)

– ODX and OPC protocols will add Industrial PC

– Do not call it “CDWeb”. It is not.

• Keep existing power electronics in all cases.

– Calcoil 4000 (A or D)

• Note: new interface is NOT offered for Calcoil 2000, Impact

ThermaJet, or ABB ThermoProfiler, etc. These are all obsolete,
