WHEREAS, it ha~ been brought to this Councll's attention that the locifrresident proprietor of the Pix Theatre, has been experiencing troub1e,over the admission of children to his theatre, we feel that on account of Aylmer's close prox1mity to Ottawa, and the Province of Ontario, where children are permitted, that his case deserves special consid~ratlon, and that Mr. ~olan ie receiving unfair treatment •. ~ T~~ of Aylmer, ie surrounded by Q $vmmer colonie~, and endeavours, at all times, to encourage summer residente, ,and attemp~s to provide for them and their families, the seme advantages that they can obtaln.bY sp~nding their summers at the numerous Ontario side of the river resorte. Motion pic$~e entertainment is a form of amusement that thase people feel is eseential to the complete enjoyment of tl:)eir holidaY$, and if forbidden here to their families, the parents would necessarily attend Ottawa theatres. This would be an tinfair hardshâp , not only to _ the local theetre owner, but also he detrimental to marchants in the 'J.·own, as doubtless purchases would be made in Ottawa while on the se trips.

WHERE.<\S, Mr. Nolan has,invested considerable money in improving the theatre, so that, at present, it i8 cQnsidered by all, a credit to the town. We feel that it is a Most important asset in encouraging new residents, and although its seating capacity Ls sllSll, baing under 300, it compares favourably with any modern city theatre. It is of fireproof construction, and conforme with all the regulations of "THE PUBLIC BUILDING AND SAFETY ACT". The aisles' are wide and the exits eas1ly accessible. The fireproof projection room is manned by a liceneed operator, and the proprietor and the remainder of the staff maintain constant and watchful supervision for the phj!ysical safety of the patrons.

WHEREAS, Mr. Nolan is a good tçpayer, and an esteemed and popular resident of this town, and his reputation as such , is influenced by the way he. conducts his business. He personally selects his programmes fram the highest moral type, and the films are oj such an educational and entertaining standard that the innocent recreation thay provide, harm cannot possibly come ta anyone, whether adult or minor.

BE IT TBEREFORE RESOLVED tBAT this Couneil go on record as being opposed to any interferenee by the Q,uebee Provincial Police in enforcing the law at this particular theatre, regarding adm1tting minora, A copy of this resolut10n ia ta be mailed to the local head of the Provincial Police, Chief J.E.Decosse, with the sincere hope that our wishes will be respected, and that his vigilance mill be immediately relaxed.

That wherea~, byl~ numher 130 provides for the borrowing of money by the issuance of annuitiee in order to consolidate the present debt of the Corporation,

That whereas, in accordance with the provisions of,bylaw no. 130, the debentures of the Town of Aylmer deposited with the Treasurer of the Province of ~ueb8C for the credit of the Slnking Funds of the said Town of Aylmar, shall be cancel1ed, as wel1 as any interest coupons pertaining to same, whether due or past due, and all monies on deposit with the Treasurer of the Province,of ~uebec for the credit of the said Sinking Funds, shall be paid over to the Town of Aylmer, at the t1me, the present bylaw comes into force and effect,

That whereas according to by-law number 128, respecting the payment of business licences etc. auch charges should be paid before opening the place of business or on the first day of the Business licence year, that is, May lst,

Providing for the repaal of By-Law no. 30 of the Town of Aylmer,

adopted OD September 17th, 1900, and regulating the keeping of dogs.

WHEREAS by-law DO. 30 of the Town of Aylmer, adopted OD September 17th,

1900, and regulating the keeping of dogs has been found impractical, and

WHEREAS it ls deemed expedient and in the best lnterests of tha reta-

payers and residents of tha Town, that sà1d by-law no. 30 ba repealed andrescinded, and

WHEREAS notice of motion has been duly and regularly givan;

NOW 'lEEREFORE IT IS BY THE ffiESENT BY-LAW NO. 133 RFSOLVED, ORIlAINED

.AND ENACTED AS FOLLOWS:

1. The By-LaW, bearing numbar 30, enactad by the Municipal CouncU

of tha Town of AY.~r on September 17th, 1900, and regulating the keeping of dogs,

ls hereby rascinded.and repealed for all legal intents and purposes.

2. The present by-law shsll come into force and effect according to
