What are the IFEC (in-flight entertainment & communication) retrofit options for carriers?

Comfort of passengers. Passengers to enjoy the same

connectivity in the air as on ground

Investment cost of options Brand recognition Power consumption of the IFE Weight of available systems On-line purchasing capability Improved passenger’s information Reliability Maintainability Security of in-flight connectivity

How do operators decide what IFEC options to adopt?

IFE integration into total cabin solution

IFE upgrade comes along most likely in conjunction with cabin refreshment / refurbishment /retrofit including: Renewal of lighting concept

MOD lighting Seat rearrangement, replacement

or recondition LOPA change, retrofit

Cabin repair and modification New branding concept Recondition of galleys, lavatories

How can MRO companies assist airlines in their decisions?

GAMECO is in the process to build up a mock-up center: The Mock-up center project will be

completed and in operation at the end of 2016

GAMECO will support the airlines to display their new branding concept

GAMECO is going to provide a platform for the OEMs to promote their products in an appropriate environment

The mock-up center will consist of a narrow body and wide body mock-up, a sample library, a mock-up for IFE and finally a galley mock-up for inserts

Summary

Passenger demand to have the same in-flight connectivity as on the ground, especially in long range routes, as well as technology of connectivity advances, which leads to update cabins more frequently

Cabin interiors and especially the IFE presents the opportunity for an airline to differentiate itself from others with an improved branding

Due to greater competition, the airlines are looking for additional sources of revenue, such as online shopping

A state of the art IFE system must be embedded into a comprehensive cabin solution

MROs need to identify ways to develop the interior upgrade business – design, engineering, certification, manufacturing, installation, testing, supply chain, after market support etc., to build their capabilities

In regards to IFE systems MROs need to have a close cooperation with the OEMs

Thank You!
