Mrs Murphy – Week beginning 2nd June and 8th of June 2020
I hope you are all safe and well and enjoying the beautiful weather we have been having. I have been busy playing
outside in the garden, splashing in the paddling pool and going for lots of walks and adventures in the forest.
Can you believe it is June? It is nearly time for the Summer holidays...Yippee!!! Just another few weeks with some
school work.
Some of you sent me photographs of your school work, art, baking, gardening, farming and pets. I have even received
some funny jokes that made me laugh.
Continue to send me images of your work or if you have any queries just email me on
[email protected] I really love hearing from you as I am missing you all so much.
Again, I have set new work and activities for the next two weeks. I have provided screenshots from the various
books for your convenience. You can choose activities from the list below; you do not have to get everything done.
The main things to focus on are your reading and keywords, tables and some writing focusing on your spelling and
sounds as you write.
Take care and stay safe.
Slán go fóill,
Mrs Murphy.

Week 1 Addition – Adding 3 digits
Page 121: Hold up 3 sets of items (not exceeding a total 10), and encourage the children to formulate number sentences to match the sets displayed
using acceptable language alternatives. For example: ‡ 5 pencils, 3 pencils and 1 pencil makes 9 pencils ‡ 5 and 3 and 1 makes 9 altogether ‡ 5 add 3
add 1 is the same as 9 ‡ 5 and 3 and 1 are equal to 9
Page 128: Use cubes/bears to practise adding 3 numbers together. For example: Benny has 2 blue crayons, 2 red crayons and 4 yellow crayons. How
many crayons does he have altogether? ‡
Betsy has I doll, 5 marbles and 2 skipping ropes. How many toys does she have altogether?
Record each problem as an addition sentence. Suggest alternative sums and find the answer by ‘counting on’ on the number line.
