HOMEWORK: As you know, I generally don’t send homework of the traditional type. It is usually to complete something missed in class or “ask a parent”-type work. This is as important as traditional homework in that it has the students practicing vocabulary in real life situations. DON’T DO HOMEWORK IF IT UPSETS YOUR STUDENT. They are young. But let me know in either an email, or return it with a note. Sorts: If you get a sort sent home, it is because your child missed it in class. Usually these are sorts students are able to do independently. Some students are working on EXECUTIVE SKILLS – first cutting, then not losing pieces, keeping materials organized, and understanding the nature of the sort. If your student struggles, let me know. PROJECT GLAD SURVEY – Home School Connection #2 Your Student will take a survey of people and ask them, “What is your least favorite weather?” Please record your answers on the sheet provided. There is a sheet in your students backpack and I have pasted the sheet at the bottom of the newsletter. No, I don’t care what paper its on! Science: We learned about yellow jackets this week – where they live, what they eat, and why they can be dangerous ASK YOUR STUDENT for some yellow jacket facts! Language Arts:

WRITING: The students wrote 3 page narratives about what they did on their vacation! We began to read our stories out loud to the class in the Author’s Chair.

Math: Please look in your students back pack for practice at home sheets from our math curriculum! Thank you for letting us teach your children!

This day has been given to me, fresh and clear.

I promise myself that I shall use this day to the fullest, realizing that it can never come back again.

I have the power to decide what I will be. I make myself what I am.
