YEARCHOOSE 1 AND JOURNAL FOR 10
MINUTES.
It’s all about YOU!!!
Make a list of:
Some things that are important to you
Some things you did this summer
Some of your core beliefs
Create 5 argument statements
Choose 5 things off your list and turn them into debatable
statements – something we could argue with.
For example: Something I did this summer:
This summer I went to Florida and spent 5 days at the beach.
Debatable statement: The most relaxing vacation is a beach vacation.
Argument is more than offering up an opinion!
Argumentation is a lens through
which we flourish as intellectuals.
Before Leaving Today . . .
Leave argument statements in basket by the door.
Leave journal entry on essential question in basket.
Don’t forget to get syllabus and reading letter signed.
