M.Sc HTM students of WGSHA, Manipal University Celebrated Matribhasha Diwas on 21 st February 2015 With Students and staff of Saralebettu Govt.Higher Primary School, Manipal To promote the usage of mother tongue among the students, MSc HTM students of Welcomgroup graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal University celebrated Matribhasha Diwas (Mother Tongue Day) at Saralebettu Govt.Higher Primary School, Manipal The purpose was to sensitize people about the need of the Mother Tongue for nation’s development and imparting proficiency in the same. Various activities were organized which included informative talks, speeches, quiz, group songs in local languages, drawing, painting , elocution etc. to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity. A talk in Kannada was delivered by MSC HTM students Nandini and Manmohan Pai. They highlighted the origin and history of Kannada language, poetry, fiction and dramatic works of different Kannada renowned poets and artists. Student’s team had played a movie on the cultural heritage of Karnataka. Total number of 90 students and seven staff members along with four Faculty and 17 students of MSC HTM participated in the event This programme was conducted as per the scheduled community outreach programme of MSc HTM as part of the curriculum, under the mentorship of faculty P Valsaraj, coordinated by Nandini, Rajnigandha and Piyush.

To promote the usage of mother tongue among the students, MSc HTM students of Welcomgroup

graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal University celebrated Matribhasha Diwas

(Mother Tongue Day) at Saralebettu Govt.Higher Primary School, Manipal
