Foreword

Creating an environment for a strong culture of entrepreneurship is a key for economic

development of the country. It is heartening to mention that India has been growing at a

relatively high rate in the last few years, and is likely to be the largest economy in the world

by 2050. Fortunately, India is a young country with about 63 percent population currently being in the working age group of 15 to 59 years and it is pertinent to mention that improved

training and skill development is critical for providing wage employment or self-employment.

The Ministry of MSME has been implementing skill training through National Institute for

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ni-msme) to help and assist potential people to become

entrepreneurs or secure wage employment under the ‘Scheme of Assistance to Training

Institutes” since 2009-10 onwards, We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Ministry in

conducting the programmes.

It has been a journey of full of challenges. In general, most of youth are interested to go

for wage employment as most of them are not aware of the policies and schemes of the

Ministry. They are also no equipped with necessary skills to venture into business or secure

wage employment. Therefore, the was a need for programme on entrepreneurship and skill

development with practical learning. ni-msme has been privileged to be a part of this noble

initiative through scheme of Assistance to Training Institutes since inception. ni-msme has

been implementing the scheme in Southern India through various esteemed partner Institutions.

We are putting our best efforts to impart effective training, monitoring and follow up. The

efforts of ni-msme and its partner Institutions is resulting in to success of our trainees. ni-

msme has already brought on volume of success stories.

Moving forward, ni-msme would like to bring out few more success stories to present

a glance of the joint efforts of ni-msme & its Partner Institutions in nurturingentrepreneurship and enterprises in many locations of few States. The credits of this success

goes to collective efforts of Ministry of MSME, ni-msme family & its Partner Institutions and

our trainees for their efforts in learning, enhancing their skills and endeavor to start their

business.

These cases will continue to inspire various stakeholders as well as the future generation

of Trainees. In this context, we would like to thank the Heads of partner Institutions,

Programme coordinators and ni-msme Faculty members for their commitment and effective

implementation of the scheme for empowering the youth through necessary skills for self and

wage employment.

1. Smt. Soumya BasilSmt. Soumya Basil, Pallath House, Puthiya Road,

Thammanam attended E D P conducted by Kitco at Renewal

Centre Kaloor Ernakulam during August 2011 When she

was doing the EDP her husband was running a hollow bricks

unit. Subsequently the hollow bricks unit was closed due tolabour problem.

After the training she was highly motivated and she joined

with her husband and started a vehicle washing service unit in

February 2013 with self investment Rs 7 lakhs They are now

earning monthly income of Rs.25,000/-.

2. Shri. Premadasan MT

Shri. Premadasan MT, Thodukkattil House, Ezhuvanthala

PO, Nellaya, Palakkad District attended EDP Training on

Food Processing conducted by KITCO Ltd. at Pattambi inFebruary 2012.

After training he started a food processing unit named

“Suma Food Supplement” at Pengattiri, Nellaya PO,

Palakkad- for manufacturing banana powder. The total cost

of the project is Rs.25 lakhs. He has availed a loan of

Rs.23.5 lakhs from Vijaya Bank, Nellaya. 12 employees

working in his unit.

3. Shri.Nidhin Baby, and Shri.Noufal.P.B,Shri.Nidhin Baby & Shri. Noufal.P.B, ”Sreelakshmi”,

Chembalode, Palakkade had attended EDP training at

Rotary Club, Palakkad in September 2011. After training

they jointly started a software development unit at Palakkad

for web application and mobile application. They are working

for US and UK companies

Project cost is 8 lakhs. They availed a loan of Rs.4 lakhs from

Private Bank,15 employees are working in this unit.

4. Biljo K . JosephSri Biljo K.Joseph Pothanikkad, Kothamangalam was

running a provisional store and attended EDP at

Thripoonithura Ernakulam in August 2011 After the

training he started Pig farm,Poultry Farm, cold storage

and Polyhouse.

He availed a loan of Rs.5 lakh from Bank. He is employing

contract labourers for his work. His monthly income from

all this units comes to Rs.50,000

5. Peter Joseph

Sri Peter Joseph who was working in ICICI Bank as Co-

ordinator and earning a salary of Rs.12,000/- monthly. He

attended E D P at Ernakulam in August 2011 .

After the training he resigned from ICICI Bank and set up and

industry with 2 lakhs in 2012 by name HAUS Interior

Decoration and wooden furniture at Chullikkal with self

investment. He is now earning monthly turnover around

Rs.1,50,000/-.

6. Smt. Mary Duxy V.S

Smt Mary Duxy V.S Le Rose, Cheranelloor Ernakulam working

as office staff in a car workshop. She attended E D P conducted

by Kitco at Ernakulam in August 2011.

After the training she availed a loan of Rs1.5 lakhs from bank and

started beauty parlour-cum-tailoring shop at Cheranelloor ,

Ernakulam.

7 .Shri. Nithin.K.M

Shri. Nithin.K.M., Kaprakkattu House, Edavoor.P.O., Kalady,

Angamaly, Ernakulam District attended EDP at Angamaly in

September 2012

After the completion of the training he started a Textile shop

named “ Gents world” at Kalady. He has invested Rs.20.00

lakhs for this project. He has given employment to 5 persons.

His annual turn over is approximately Rs.12.00 lakhs

8. Smt. Deepa V K

Smt. Deepa V K, Thathupura House, Okkal PO, Kalady,

Ernakulam attended E D P at Angamally in September2012. After training she started a flour mill “Sree Muruka

Flour Mill” at Okkal. Presently she is manufacturing rice

powder, chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder

in the brand name “Mahalakshmi Food Products”. She has

invested Rs. 5 lakhs for this unit. She has availed a loan of

Rs.2.5 lakhs from Kerala State Cooperative Agricultural and

Rural Development Bank Ltd,Perumbavoor. Her annual

turnover is around Rs.3 lakhs.. 4 labours are working in this

unit

9. Asha Anand

Smt .Asha Anand, Kollanparambil house, Kidangoor,

Thuravoor PO, Angamaly, Ernakulam attended EDP at

Angamally in September 2012 After the training she starteda workshop in the name “Super tech Engineering”.

Presently she is making gate, grill , building roof etc. She

has invested approx. Rs. 2 lakhs for this unit..She has availed

a loan of Rs.50,000/- from North Malabar Gramin Bank.

Her annual turnover is around Rs. 6 lakhs. She has given

employment to 10 persons in her unit.

10. Thomson M.A.Shri.Thomson.M.A.,Manavalan

House,Pullazhi.P.O.,Thrissur District attended EDP atThrissur in October 2012.After the completion of the

training he started a Cosmetic powder making unit named

“Feather touch” at Pullazhi.

He has invested Rs. 0.50 lakh for the project. The annual turn

over of the unit is approximately Rs.0.36 lakh and he has

given employment to 2 persons

11. Deepa Sathananthan,Smt. Deepa Sathananthan,Parappanthukalil

House,Thabore.P.O. ,Ernakulam District, attended EDP

training programme conducted by KITCO at Thrissur in

October 2012.

After the completion of the training she started a poultry farm

at Thabore in MookkannurPanchayath. The total cost of the

project is rupees 1.50 lakhs. She has availed a loan of Rs.1.00

lakh and she has given employment to 3 persons. The annual

turn over the unit is Rs.1.50 lakhs

12. Gireesh T.G

Shri. Gireesh TG, Thalappilly House, Ponnukkara PO,

Thrissur district has attended E D P conducted by KITCO

Ltd., at Rotary Club, Thrissur in October 2012. After the

training he started a Food processing unit named “Prabha

Foods”, Ponnukkara, Thrissur.

Presently he is preparing various types of snacks in his unit.

He has invested Rs. 2 lakhs for setting up this unit. He has

availed a loan of Rs.2 lakhs from Employment Multipurpose

Job Club. He has given employment to 4 persons in this unit

13. Shri. Faisal.T.M Shri. Faisal.T.M., Thachampatta House, Pathiripadam.

P.O., Malappuram District attended EDP training

conducted by KITCO at Malappuram during

November- December 2012 on behalf of ni-msme,Hyderabad.

After training he has started a book-stall and ladies store

at Nilambur,Malappuram. He has invested Rs.3.00

lakhs for this project. He has given employment to 2

persons.

14. Anilkumar B Sri. Anilkumar B, Sreemangalath house, Kandalloor

South P.O, Kayamkulam, Alappuzha attended E D P

conducted at Alappuzha in September 2012. Whenhe joined the EDP, he was having an album designing

unit at Kayamkulam.

After the training he was highly motivated and

developed his studio and album designing unit. His

total investment for this project is approximately

Rs.8.00 lakhs and has given employment to 7 persons.

His present monthly income is Rs.2.50 lakhs.

15. Prasad.M.PShri. Prasad. M.P, Meleppurayakkal (House),

Beypore. P.O, Kozhikkode attended EDP training

conducted by KITCO LTD at Koyilandy during

October-November 2013.

After training he has started a furniture manufacturing

unit at Beypore .He has invested Rs. 1.75 lakh for the

project. He has availed a loan of Rs.1.25 lakh. He has

given employment to 2 persons

16. Shri. Abdu RaheemShri. Abdu Raheem, Pullanippuram House, Padpparamba, Pang PO,

Malappuram District attended EDP training programme conducted by KITCO

LTD at Malappuram district during

August/September 2013

After training he has set up a unit for

painting pictures and photo frame work. He has invested

Rs.15 lakhs and provided employment to 6 persons. His

annual turnover is Rs.1.80 lakhs

17. Biju.O.S Shri. Biju.O.S, Ottaplavunikkunnallil (H),Vallana,

Erumakkad. P.O, Pathanamthitta hasattended EDP training

conducted by KITCO LTD at Koippuram during August-September 2013.

After the training he started a unit for manufacturing Sealing

machines. He has invested Rs.1 lakh for setting up of the unit

and he has given employment to 2 persons. The annual turn

over of the unit is Rs.1.20 lakh

18. Yamuna .B

Smt. Yamuna .B, Krishnamangalath (H), East Kallada.P.O.,

Kollam District attended ESDP training programme on Food

processing conducted by KITCO LTD at Oachira, Kollamduring November/ December 2013.

After the completion of the training she started a Chips unit at

East Kallada, Kollam named “Soorya Foods”. The total

investment of the project is Rs.11lakhs. She has availed a loan

of Rs.9 lakhs and she has given employment to14 persons. The

annual turn over of the unit is Rs.12 lakhs

19. Smt. Manjula.VSmt.Manjula.V,Karikkattle(H),Mararikulam

North.P.O,Alappuzha attended ESDP training programme

on Food Processing conducted by KITCO LTD. at Punnapra

during October- November 2013

After the training she started mushroom cultivation.

She has invested Rs.1 lakh and given employment to 1

person. She is now getting a monthly income of Rs. 15,000/-

.She is marketing the product in different places in

Alappuzha district

20. Resmi.V. M & 21,Smitha.K.P

Smt.Resmi.V.M, Manjeeram, Pattanakkad.P.O., Cherthala &

Smt.Smitha.K.P, Kuraparambil Velorvattom, Cherthalai.P.O.

attended ESDP training on Fashion Designing at Pattanakkad

during October-November 2013 .

After training they have started a joint venture unit named “4

EVER” at Cherthalai for Readymade garments making. The

total investment of the unit is Rs. 0.80 lakhs. The annual turn

over of the unit is Rs.1.20 lakhs. They have providedemployment to 4 persons.

Smt.Raseena. M, Kochuthayyil (H), Punnapra.P.O, Alappuzhaattended ESDP training on Fashion Designing conducted by

KITCO LTD. at Pattanakkad during October-November 2013.

After training she started a unit

“CLITTENZ FASHION” at

Alappuzha for Readymade

garments. The total investment of the

unit was Rs. 5 lakhs. She has availed

a loan from IDBI Bank. The annual

turn over of the unit is Rs.8.40 lakhs

and she has provided employment to 9 persons.

23. Nikhil TShri. Nikhil T, Uthradam House, Palakuty Parambu,

Olipuram, Thenjipalam PO, Malappuram District attended

EDP training programme conducted by KITCO LTD. at

Malappuram district during August/September 2013.

After training he started an internet café and Photostat unit at

Thenjipalam. He has invested Rs.0.60 lakh for this unit. He

is getting a monthly income of Rs.5000/- and has given

employment to one person.

24. Biju KShri. Biju K, Sreekrishnapriya, Pookode PO

Kuthuparambu, Thalassery attended E D P ,Thalassery in

November 2011.

After the training he has started a unit “Krishna Priya

Enterprises” at Pookode for manufacturing milk products

and cool drinks. He has also purchased a fully automatic

machine for making ice creams. Presently he is having

assets worth Rs.20 lakhs He has given employment to 6

persons. His monthly income is approximately Rs.20,000/-

25. Fousel V.M,

Shri. Fousel.V.M, Vengavila, Adivaram, Kalakunnu,

Kozhikkode has attended EDP training conducted

by KITCO LTD. at Koyilandy during October/November

2013.

After training he started a Cement brick

manufacturing unit in partnership with his two friends at

Kozhikode. They have invested Rs.2 lakhs for this project.

They have given employment to 4 persons.

26. Anilkumar.S Shri. Anilkumar.S, Ambily Bhavanam, Melila West,

Melila.P.O., Kollam District attended ESDP training

programme on food processing conducted by KITCO

LTD. at Oachira, Kollam during November-December

2013 .

After the

completion of the training he has started a Bakery

unit at Kunnikode, Kollam named “Harida Store”.

The project cost was Rs.4 lakhs. He availed a loan

of Rs.2 lakh and he has given employment to 2

persons. The annual turn over of the unit is Rs.6 lakhs

27. Smt. Shinu.SSmt. Shinu.S, Shinto Bhavan, N.T.Ward,

Avalookunnu.P.O., Alappuzha District attended EDP

training conducted by KITCO LTD. at KSSA Hall,

Alappuzha.

After the completion of the training she has started a

Beauty Parlour named “Dream girl” at Alappuzha. She

has invested Rs. 2 lakhs for this project. Her annual turn

over is Rs.1.80 lakhs .She has given employment to 2

persons.

Malappuram District attended EDP trainining

programme at Manjery, Malappuram during October-

November 2012.

After training he started furniture making unit at

Randathani. He has invested Rs.3.00 lakhs for the unit.

The annual turn over of the unit is approximately

Rs.12.00 lakhs. He has given employment to 3 persons.

After training he has started a non woven kit making unit

named “Green 4 future” and organic vegetable cultivation

and sales at Kottackal. The total investment of the project is

approximately Rs.17.00 lakhs. He has availed a loan ofRs.15 lakhs. The expected annual turn over of the unit is Rs.12.00 lakhs. He has given

employment to 10 persons

investment of the project is Rs.5 lakhs. She has

availed a loan of Rs.4 lakhs and she has given employment to

4 persons. The annual turn over of the unit is Rs.3 lakhs

Pathirapally. She has given employment to 2 persons and the annual turn over of the hotel is

Rs.2.40 lakh.

Fashion Designing conducted by KITCO LTD. at IMA

Hall, Kanniyampuram, Shoranur during July- August 2013

After training she set up a tailoring and garment making unit

at Ottappalam. She invested Rs 0.25 lakhs for purchasing

tailoring machines. Her annual income is approximately

Rs.0.60 lakhs and provided employment to 2 persons

37. Smt.Smitha.Smt. Smitha.M, Mullakkal House, Kanniyampuram,Ottappalam attended ESDP trainining programme on Fashion

Designing conducted by KITCO LTD. at IMA Hall,

Kanniyampuram, Shoranur during July- August 2013

After training she has set up a tailoring and garment making

unit at Ottappalam. She has invested Rs 0.25 lakhs for

purchasing tailoring machines. Her annual income is

approximately Rs.0.60 lakhs and provided employment to 2

persons

38. Akhil N.A,Sri. Akhil N attended Entrepreneurship Development Programme

conducted by KITCO LTD. at Kurichy Co-operative Bank,

Kurichy, Kottayam.

After the training he was highly motivated and he started a pickle

manufacturing unit in November 2013 by name “Kuttanadan Food

Products”. He marketed his product in brand name as

“Chechiyamma”. He invested Rs.2.50 lakhs for setting up of this

unit and has employed 3 persons

39. Vineesh V.BShri. VineeshV.B, Vazheliparambil (H),

Thuravoor.P.O., Angamaly, Ernakulam attended

EDP training conducted by KITCO LTD. at CSA

Auditorium, Angamaly in August 2013

After the

completion of the training he started a Cement products

unit named “Daimond” Cement products at Thuravoor.

He has invested Rs.1.00 lakh for this project. He has

given employment to 2 persons. The annual turn over of

the unit is Rs. 0.60 lakh.

Wayanad District attended EDP Training programme

conducted by KITCO LTD. at Panamaram, Wayanad in

October- 2013 on behalf of ni-msme Hyderabad.

After training he has started a Poly house unit and Organic

vegetables cultivation at Panamaram. He has invested Rs.5

lakhs for this project. He has availed loan of Rs.3 lakhs and

he has given employment to 2 persons.

41. Shri. Muhammed MubashirShri. Muhammed Mubashir.K, Veluthaparambil(H),

Vaidyarangadi.P.O., Kozhikkode attended EDP training

conducted by KITCO LTD. at Koyilandy during October-

November 2013.

After training he has started a Bag manufacturing unit at

Kozhikkode in partnership with his four friends .They have

invested Rs.10 lakhs for this project They have given

employment to 4 persons. The annual turnover of the unit

is Rs.3 lakhs.

42.Shri. Jayaram.P,

Shri.Jayaram.P,Prasanthi,Pathirappally.P.O, Alappuzha

attended ESDP training programme on Food Processing

conducted by KITCO LTD. at Punnapra during October-

November 2013.

After the training he has started a Bakery unit named “Devi

Bakes” at Pathirappally in May 2014.He has invested Rs.40

lakh for the project and he has availed a loan of Rs.35 lakh.

He has given employment to 6 persons

43. Smt. Libymol.A,Smt. Libymol.A, Mohinsifa(H), Kalappura Ward, Alappuzha

attended ESDP training programme on Food Processingconducted by KITCO LTD. at Punnapra during October-

November 2013 on behalf of ni-msme, Hyderabad.

After the training she has started a Snacks unit. She has

invested Rs.0.10 lakh. She has given employment to 2

persons and she is getting a monthly income of Rs.5000

Processing conducted by KITCO LTD. at Punnapra during

October- November 2013 .

“in-café” at Aravukad. She has invested Rs.0.20 lakh for the

project and she has given employment to 2 persons. The

annual turnover of the unit is Rs.1.30 lakhs.

District attended EDP training programme conducted by

KITCO LTD. at Malappuram district duringAugust/September 2013 on behalf of ni-msme Hyderabad.

After training he started a unit for manufacturing interlocking

tiles at Vengara, Malappuram. The total investment is Rs.3

lakh and he has given employment to 5 person. His annual

income is Rs.2.40 lakh.

46. Shri.Satheesh.P.S Shri.Satheesh.P.S,18/272, Kerala Street, Koppam,

Palakkad attended ESDP Training on Food Processing

conducted by KITCO LTD. at Alathur during July –

September 2013

After the completion of the training he started a Catering

unit in Palakkad Town He has invested Rs. 1 lakh for the

project. He has given employment to 4 persons

After the training he started a work shop for the manufacturing of smokeless oven named

“Anandu agencies” at Pallippuram. He has invested Rs.1 lakh for the project and he has given

employment to 2 persons. The annual turnover of the unit is Rs.3.60 lakhs.

After training she has purchased sewing machine and started stitching work and garments

making in her house. She has invested around Rs.0.50 lakh for purchasing machines andmaterials. She has given employment to one person. Her monthly income is Rs.3,000/-.

attended ESDP training programme on Fashion designing conducted by KITCO LTD. at

Cheruvathur Grama Panchayath Hall, Cheruvathur, Neeleswaram, Kasargod District during

July/August 2013 on behalf of ni-msme Hyderabad.

After training she started readymade garments manufacturing unit. Total investment of the

unit is Rs.2.00 lakhs. She has given employment to 5 persons. She is getting a monthly income

Rs.10,000/-.
