The grips are a contrasting autumn tan. The scoring on the face of the woods is white, and the "Springfield" signature on the clubhead is also white. The Springfield irons are also color-harmonized, and match the two-tone effect of the woods. The autumn brown collars and contrast-ing autumn tan "Shot-Control" grips highlight the stainless steel heads and the stepped chrome shafts.

P U T T I N G I N S T R U C T I O N AID —Pearson Industries, 3932 Xenwood Ave., Minneapolis, Minn., has the Pearson Putter grip, a device that slips over the grip of a putter and teaches a hold of the club that keeps the clubhead square to the direction line. The device is well recommended by Twin City pros who have been using it them-selves and selling it to their pupils as something to teach the proper use of the hands in putting. It is not legal for tournament play but according to pro experience does an effective job in instruc-tion. It's made of plastic. Prices and full details may be obtained from the makers.

SPORTS AREA CHART —Wilson Sporting Goods Co. has supplied sports depts. of news-papers with a wall poster showing official dimen-sions of sports fields and courts. It's a very inter-esting and informative chart. The chart would be a much consulted feature in some pro shops and lockerrooms.

"SKOR", N E W GRIP SOLUTION — Skor, a new rub-on paste that insures full grip-power on hands wet from perspiration or on wet club and racquet handles, is being sold by the national dis-tributors, Cohan, Olson and Co., 404 N. Wells St., Chicago 10. Skor is manufactured by the Durasol Chemical Co. of Boston, and is packaged in individual tubes to retail for 98 cents. Skor is delivered to pro shops on attractive three-color 9 x 13V2 inch display cards each carrying a dozen tubes. Dealer price is $7.00 per card of 12 tubes in lots of 2 cards. The new paste contains lanolin and keeps dry hands soft and flexible. Users may apply it to the hands before starting a game, washing off any excess. As soon as hands or handle become wet, Skor gives a "tackiness"—but never stickiness—to the hands, preventing the club from slipping. Its grip-power lasts several hours. It is harmless to the hands and handle. Skor is greaseless and stainless and has a slight perfume odor. It will not deteriorate in the tube and is easily carried.

Selected coaches, players and professionals have tested Skor and have acclaimed it unanimously. Dealers may order from their jobbers or write to Cohan, Olson and Company, 404 North Wells Street, Chicago 10, Illinois. Customer folders will be supplied with shipments.

DAVIS CATALOG IS BUYERS' AID—New catalog of course equipment and supplies handled by George A. Davis, Inc., 5440 Northwest High-way, Chicago, is an exceedingly practical and at-tractive job. ally move in closer to the ball. So in regard to the position of the ball w i th the left foot, you m igh t very well play it off your left heel for a drive or for a niblic. The change is that of moving in closer to the ball and the r ight foot drawing close to your left.

A t this point we all went into a discus-sion on present day golf vs. the swings of yesteryear.

The first th ing we agreed on is tha t present day golf in "b ig t ime" is played from "r ight to left."

Secondly, this is accomplished by a great number of the players hav ing the left hand in wha t must be referred to as a weak position, i.e., on the side of the club —no t on top—and that the r ight hand was also on the side of the club—not on top in a strong positive posit ion—and that present day players use their r ight hand a great deal. They hold the club wi th the left and hit w i th right, just as Byron Nel-son has remarked.

The new term "Reroute" was used more than "inside out." The film showed the players at the top of the backswing have a little action that starts to close the club face at the very top of the backswing. We agreed tha t this is the action they have in their method that permits them from a weak left hand position at the start of the swing to be able to burn in a low strong r ight to left shot. This action at the top was t i t led—Rerout ing the Club Pace.

THE GROWING OF THE FINEST BENT GRASSES is our specialty and sole business. We have been at it 20 years.

PUTTING PRACTICE CUP BACK—Back on the market is the 19th Hole putting practice device which is making its first appearance at re-tailers since 1940 when it was a favorite item of home putting equipment. For indoor and outdoor practice, this aid to better golfing is complete with chromium fixtures, rustless spring, and two pressed-steel plates in diameter. The spring, pressing against the upper plate with the up-turned edge, permits the plate to recede and catch the correctly-putted ball. If the practice putt is too hard and the ball would ordinarily jump the cup, it will pass thru. If the ball would ordinarily rim the cup, it will rim the 19th Hole. It is distributed by Upham Products Co., Dept. D, New Haven 10, Conn.
