The Art and Science of Leadership
The Stanford MSx program will deepen students understanding of the
disciplines required of a general manager by offering opportunities to reflect
on habits developed as a young manager and to test new patterns of thought
and behavior. Various methods are used, including assessments, executive
modules, coaching, study trips, and active opportunities to lead by doing,
including team-based projects, peer leadership roles, and interacting with
senior leaders throughout the year.
In addition, small class sizes allow for both vibrant discussion and substantial
interaction with faculty. A flexible teaching methodology empowers faculty
members to select the approach thats right for the subject and for the Fellows.
Since 1957, a cohort of mid-career executives has been selected
as Fellows in the Stanford MSx Program, spending one year
in residence at Stanford Graduate School of Business as they
prepare for senior roles in industry and government. Our Fellows
have become chief executives of global companies, prominent
entrepreneurs, policymakers, financiers, and social innovators.
The program today continues to excel as a transformative graduate
experience to equip promising leaders from diverse backgrounds
with the skills they need to take ideaswithin large organizations
or in an entrepreneurial environmentto the next level.

Innovation in Our DNA
Stanford Graduate School of Business has built a global reputation based on
its innovative management programs, each of which creates a transformative
experience that empowers individuals to find new ways to change lives, change
organizations, and change the world.
Fellows also have the opportunity to take full advantage of the resources and
environment at Stanford University, which draws on the energy of Silicon Valley
to create an environment where students learn not to be afraid of failure but to
embrace new ideas and strengthen the institutions reputation as a catalyst
for change.
Being in this academic environment exposes you to a group of people who are more self-motivated and focused on making the most out of the year. People put in the effort to get to know each other and embrace how others perspectives are different.

A Global Community That Lasts a Lifetime
Fellows in the Stanford MSx Program are a global group of accomplished
leaders who bring distinct perspectives on all aspects of business and
leadership to both classroom and informal discussions. In addition, their
average of 12 years of experience distinguishes them from most MBA
students, who typically have 3 to 4 years of work experience.
Student life is unique. Fellows live and study together, creating a challenging
intellectual community that thrives long after their time on campus is over.
Because most Fellows already are established in both their careers and their
lives, their partners and families often come to campus with them and are
an integral part of the MSx community as well.
