The associated technical challenges span diverse topics such as operation and control of complex interconnected power systems, prediction and handling of contingencies in large power networks, protection of power apparatus and networks, design of high voltage power apparatus, insulation design for high voltage equipment, insula- tion ageing and pollution effects, condition monitoring of power apparatus, flexible transmission systems, effi- cient utilization of electrical energy, electromechanical energy conversion, power electronic interfaces for dis- tributed generation and storage, renewable sources and micro-grids. The two-year M. Tech. programme in Electrical Engineer- ing provides students with exciting opportunities for basic and advanced learning in a chosen subset of the above topics, while building up capability for technology development in select domain(s). Academic Programme The program imparts the ability to analyze, design, build and integrate electrical systems. While emphasizing EE fundamentals, the programme provides instruction and training on advanced and frontier areas as well. The core courses provide a firm foundation in power systems, power electronics and high voltage engineering. The soft cores and electives provide flexibility and opportunity for advanced learning in the chosen area. With a number of courses having a laboratory component, the courses provide good theoretical/ mathematical background as well as experimental training. Project Work In the second year, each student carries out a high-quality project. Presently, with many large-scale R & D projects, the already good infrastructure and opportunities for research and development work are further improving. The students have the opportunity to be part of exciting and challenging R&D projects in the areas of electric machines, electromagnetic fields, embedded systems for power applications, high-performance computing applications in power systems, lightning, micro-grids, power converters for renewable energy and storage, power electronic applications to power systems, protection of power apparatus and micro- grids, real-time simulation and renewable energy. Career Opportunities Past graduates of the M. Tech. (EE) programme are do- ing exceedingly well in the industry and academia, both in India and abroad. Our alumni are well placed in core industries that include electrical engineering majors, au- tomotive industries, power electronic industries, public sector undertakings, research labs and semiconductor in- dustries. The programme is also an excellent springboard for doctoral studies and/or R&D work in the industry. Selection Procedure Candidates shortlisted based on their GATE score will be called for a technical interview in the month of April, and the selection will be based on their performances in GATE as well as the interview. MTech (EE)Energy security, efficiency and clean energy are the es-sential requirements of today’s energy-hungry world. The associated technical challenges span diverse topics such as operation and control of complex interconnected power systems, prediction and handling of contingencies in large power networks, protection of power apparatus and networks, design of high voltage power apparatus, insulation design for high voltage equipment, insula-tion ageing and pollution effects, condition monitoring of power apparatus, flexible transmission systems, effi-cient utilization of electrical energy, electromechanical energy conversion, power electronic interfaces for dis-tributed generation and storage, renewable sources and micro-grids.

The two-year M. Tech. programme in Electrical Engineer-ing provides students with exciting opportunities for basic and advanced learning in a chosen subset of the above topics, while building up capability for technology development in select domain(s).

Academic ProgrammeThe program imparts the ability to analyze, design, build and integrate electrical systems.

Project WorkIn the second year, each student carries out a high-quality project. Presently, with many large-scale R & D projects, the already good infrastructure and opportunities for research and development work are further improving. The students have the opportunity to be part of exciting and challenging R&D projects in the areas of electric machines, electromagnetic fields, embedded systems for power applications, high-performance computing applications in power systems, lightning, micro-grids, power converters for renewable energy and storage, power electronic applications to power systems, protection of power apparatus and micro-grids, real-time simulation and renewable energy.

Career OpportunitiesPast graduates of the M. Tech. (EE) programme are do-ing exceedingly well in the industry and academia, both in India and abroad. Our alumni are well placed in core industries that include electrical engineering majors, au-tomotive industries, power electronic industries, public sector undertakings, research labs and semiconductor in-dustries. The programme is also an excellent springboard for doctoral studies and/or R&D work in the industry.

Selection ProcedureCandidates shortlisted based on their GATE score will be called for a technical interview in the month of April, and the selection will be based on their performances in GATE as well as the interview.
