Marijuana Harmless? Think Again!Marijuana Harmless? Think Again!Marijuana Harmless? Think Again!Marijuana Harmless? Think Again! is a statewide movement that has the goal of
educating the citizens of Arizona on the true harms of marijuana. At the January
meeting, a panel discussion will address this, and will focus on what is happening
politically and socially with medical and recreational marijuana in the United States.
One of the unintended consequences in Denver, Colorado with the passage of
recreational marijuana is a surge in the homeless population there.

Happy New Year to all our RWOP Members!
I feel so very blessed to be affiliated with not only the largest, but the very BEST Republican women’s club in the nation! Each and every one of you have contrib-uted to the success of our club, and I look forward to the many accomplishments we will achieve this year. Only last week during an interview with our friend Paul T. Morris, KYCA reporter, I spoke about the generosity of our members not only with their checkbooks, but also their time and talents. In 2014, RWOP and its members contributed over $20,000 to a dozen plus organizations. While our mission is to educate our members, to work to elect Republican candidates and to support the Republican Party, we also feel a deep commitment to support our community in a variety of ways. We should be very proud of those efforts.
Our major fundraiser this year is also a true “Fun-raiser” with some huge benefits to those winning raffle tickets: $10,000, $3,000 and $1,000 cash prizes give us many reasons to buy and sell those $10 tickets!
We will continue with our drive to educate and involve members in a variety of ways. Nettie Lamerson is organizing a RWOP Book Club, and Gail Stewart is looking into an RWOP Toastmasters Club. Another highlight for 2015 will be the National Federation of Republican Women Convention in Phoenix, September 10-13. We hope to support many of our members in attending this opportunity in our own backyard.
I am honored to be your president this year, and I thank you for your trust and support.
God bless you all,

Americanism
State & Federal Issues
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and we all didn't put on too many pounds with all those yummy goodies.
This upcoming session will be interesting and challenging. We are all looking forward to working with Governor Doug Ducey and finding solutions to building a stronger Arizo-
na. One of his top priorities is getting Arizona back on the right financial track and growing our jobs and economy. I stand behind him one hundred percent.
Inauguration Day was Monday, January 5th which entailed the swearing in of all state wide elected officials. The State of the State Address will be presented on Monday, January 12th to the legislative body which is our first day of session.
Senator Steve Pierce will chair the Senate Natural Resource Committee and will serve on the Transportation Committee, and the Judiciary Committee. He also holds the title as the Senior Member of the Senate in his last term. Representative Karen Fann will Chair the Insurance Committee and will serve on the Transportation Committee; County and Municipal Affairs Committee; and the Agriculture, Water and Lands Committee. Representative Noel Campbell will be Vice Chairman of the Federalism and States' Rights Committee and will serve on the Transportation Committee and the Military Affairs/Public Safety Committee.
We invite you to join us at the Capitol whenever you are in town, or please feel free to contact us anytime you have a suggestion, question, or just want to say hi at:

The War on Those who ‘Protect and Serve’
Across the country, police cars proudly display the slogan on their car doors, To Protect and Serve. It’s unfortunate when we see an alarm-ing number of murdered policemen. Who is responsible for these crimes? Criminals are the ones who pull the triggers, but actually many are reacting to political "leaders" such as the mayor of New York, William de Blasio, former NYC Mayor Bloomberg, the Reverend Al Sharpton, and the current occupant of our White House.
Just before Christmas, New York City officers Ramos and Liu were sitting in their patrol car when both men were shot point blank by a killer, who then turned the gun on himself. In late December, Flagstaff Officer Tyler Stewart was shot in the face and killed. Not only are policemen being murdered, they are being attacked verbally by political "leaders," inciting hate toward officers who are there to protect their community.
Why are the police under attack? Could it be because leftist US representatives want law-abiding citizens defenseless? The executive branch is already trashing the 2nd Amendment, and Americans are not stupid. In 2013, sales of firearms across the nation skyrocketed.
Prior to 2009, then-candidate Obama said he wanted to create a civilian force as well armed as our military? Now what did he mean by that? Some people believe that there will soon be another American Revolution. What do you think?
We must pray for America, and our newly elected Republican Congress that they do the right thing to keep irresponsible hate-speech off the administration’s agenda. Please pray that we citizens keep our freedoms that were set up by our Founding Fathers in our Constitution, being a nation of laws, especially with the First and Second amendments.
Judy Dutko, Federal Legislation

Blankets 4 Kids!
Caring for America starts the year off featuring an organization that helps children locally, most especially at this time of year. The holiday season is over and many special events to help those less fortunate fade away, but Blankets 4 Kids steps up.
Theirs is a simple and straightforward mission: to provide warmth and security to homeless children by giving them blankets, soft toys, scarves and hats. The organizers visit homeless shelters in the Tri City area, as far north as Ash Fork and as far south as Black Canyon City.
Blankets4Kids has 17 donation boxes in our Quad-city area and a dedicated group of knitters who provide items for the kids.
We would ask our members to purchase a child’s soft blanket or toy and bring them to our Caring for America table at our January 27 Luncheon.
Many thanks,
Anne Roper, Caring for America Team Member

Cookies for Cops The Republican Women of Prescott appreciate and are proud of our police force and county sheriff’s deputies. We would like to do something nice for them, and there’s nothing nicer than homemade cookies.
Member Nancy Vargo introduced this idea to our board, and each of you can help out by making 3-4 dozen of the cookie of your choice and packaging each dozen in a Ziploc bag. Bakers may write their name on the bag and bring them to the January 27 Luncheon. If you’d like to participate, when making your reservation, please let Elsie or Pam know how many dozens you will be bringing.
In our communities there are 305 sworn officers in Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. Watch for the
eblast with more details! Thank you!
