Presidents Message !Well, it’s official, 2014 is half way over! Can you believe it? It feels like the last 6 months have just flown by, even with the awful winter. With the warm weather, comes some amazing sessions. I hope you are all getting geared up for this summer season.

We here at MTPPA are so proud and honored to bring you some amazing speakers! We do this so you can always strive to get better, get some creative energy when you need it, and continue to climb toward success. July’s speaker will do just that. Please join us on July 14th at 7pm to hear from Fonzie Munoz. You will not be disappointed!

Don’t forget to bring a print for our Print of the Month. This months Theme is Celebration! I challenge all of you to bring a print, you now get points toward Photographer of the Year just for entering! So you have nothing to lose:)

July’s Speaker Bio: Fonzie Munoz

I am the owner of Fonzie Munoz Photography in Corpus Christi, Texas; established in 2003. I created the company out of the spare bedroom in my home, where I would meet clients for weddings and portraits. In 2004, I moved to my first studio location in downtown Corpus Christi. It was there, in the 200-sq/ft office, that I created the success for the business to grow into what it is today. In 2009, I left my full-time job to focus on the business and moved to my current location on Alameda. I specialize in portrait and wedding photography, photographing 25 to 30 weddings every year. I share my success with my wife Tonya and two children Marina and Matthew. They are often seen hanging around the studio with me.

Fonzie is President of the San Antonio Professional Photographers Association, Board of Directors for Texas Professional Photographers Association (TPPA) and member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). Fonzie was awarded “Merit of Excellence” for his portraits from PPA for the last 4 years, and was awarded Photographer of the Year 2012 from the TPPA. In 2010, Corpus Christi ISD awarded Fonzie the iAchieve Partner in Education Award.

He has dedicated much of his time to our local community organizations like the American Cancer Society, Christus Spohn Cancer Center, Food Bank of Corpus Christi, and Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.

(1/2/14) As we start this new year, I am happy to announce that I was nominated to the Texas Professional Photographers Association Board of Directors for 2014. The TPPA is the largest professional photography state organization in the US. The last photographer to sit on the state board from Corpus Christi was in 1979. In addition, I am happy to serve as the President of the Professional Photographers of San Antonio. I have sat on the PPSA Board for the last 4 years and will serve as President in 2014. These two accomplishments really just happened at the same time, coincidentally, but I am humbled and grateful to serve the members and give back everything I took in over the years. It is my turn to continue to give back to the best profession in the world.

Starting a Studio From Scratch & Building for Success: The Do’s and Don’ts and Everything in Between

Fonzie Munoz will share what experiences he has learned as a full time professional photographer. He created a full time retail portrait studio where he specializes in portrait and wedding photography and photographs 25 to 30 weddings a year. He left his full time job as a sales manager to build his business full time. He began his path to success with a $200 camera 12 years ago.

He will share the benefits of having a full time business as well as real life experiences of being a business owner.

Fonzie has received the following awards:

What’s New? Member Feature on the Blog

We’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be adding member features to the MTPPA blog!

Want to be featured? All you have to do is attend a meeting. Each month all member attendees names will be entered and one will be chosen at random to be featured. This is a great way for other fellow members to get to know you and for you to show off your work.
