The whole point of SEO is marketing advantage, otherwise why bother? If you're not looking for good SEOinformation then why even come here? Just to dump on people who don't believe what you believe? Again youseem to be giving Google a pass on everything and just dumping on others for not doing things your way, which isanother elusive, magical, vague, and unproven concept.

Fake Jerry, you know Google is not in the habit of telling the world the details of how the search engine works.They never have. We may not like that, but what is the constant whining about it going to do? You arent acustomer of theirs, they aren't your government. They don't owe you an explanation. You can whine about it andspend your time creating fake personas to make it look like there are more whiners, or you can figure out how towork around it all like successful online business people do. Or you could make a search engine that is better thantheirs in every way. Nobody is stopping you but you.

Regarding boot licking: constantly whining, "oh please Google, tell us what we can do to please you. Oh please tellus what you did in your algorithm today so that we may suckle the teat of organic traffic once more" is no way torise up against "corporate overlords". Try to figure out how to beat them without begging for scraps of info. Orreally stick it to the man by beating them at their own game by building a superior search engine. I know Iknow... those things require hard work and ingenuity. Maybe continued grovelling and complaining about it reallyis the only hope for you.

I'm not arguing for fewer details. Just pointing out how futile it is for anyone to expect more details aboutsomething that has never been public info for good reasons.

Penguin is a good example: when it was made known that it was about links, particularly keyword anchored, a lotof people became irrational about linking - nofollowing everything, refusing to link to anything... or they went offto build lots of "branded" links to balance the obvious spam links they built in the past. Both reactions were usuallya huge waste of time, while smart SEOs worked on making sites and content better.

I would think that by now most people would see that chasing the algorithm looking for opportunities for littletricks is not a good long term strategy.

IMO, the guidelines are pretty clear. The problem is that nobody reads them. I have done more penalty relatedaudits than I care to count in the past few years. The majority of the site owners and webmasters never readthem. Some weren't even aware they existed.

Google could do a better job of making that happen by forcing people to at least check a box that says they readthem before they are allowed to use Google Analytics or Search Console
