Introduction : People nowadays are intelligent enough to know what occupations in Malaysia are highly and poorly paid while who deserves it and who does not . It had been noted during the recent years that salaries of certain groups of people have risen dramatically. Athletes, entertainers, and executives are the most notable three. Interestingly, Richard Grasso, for example, a former chairman of New York Stock Exchange, has been intensely criticized from the side of customers and critics for the enormous amounts he had been receiving during recent years. In Malaysia , the same issue goes to the group of atheles and entertainers who are highly paid for their carreer . As for this , I totally agree with the statement that professional athletes and entertainers are among the highest paid people in this country –and justifiably so for some reasons .

The first reason of why professional athletes and entertainers are among the highest paid people in this country is because most of them are representing the country . Malaysian athletes are presenting the country such in the SEA Sports and Olympics while entertainers like singers are introducing Malaysia into the international stage among the countries around the world . For example , Dato’ Lee Chong Wei , world champion of badminton sport’s field has brought Malaysia to the top rank in that sport’s field as he won beating the top players from the other countries . As for him , he was rewarded RM 500 , 000 for the feat in Olympics and that is a very big number ! For entertainer singers like Siti Nurhaliza, she is said to be paid RM 45,000 (USD$ 15 000) for a 30 minute show and RM 70,000 (USD$ 23 333) for an hour show . Thus , it shows that it is a big thing when you bring your country’s name to the outside world .

Another reason why both athletes and entertainers get highly paid is because of their profesionalism , ability and talent . Maybe there are many people whocan do what they did , but not everybody can achieve what they have achieved . Many athletes and entertainers are born with special ability and talent , so that is why they are called as special people or stars . Because of their own special talent and professionalism which no one has , they earning a lot . They are paid to contributing for the community at certain important events and bring benefits to the people who paid them . For instance , a host is also included as an entertainer . In any live programmes , tv shows , radios , or community assembly , they will hire a professional host to conduct the event smoothly . A host has a very high soft skills to attract and give the audience a good surrounding to make the event very lively . Thus , these skills are very “gold” in the entertainment world . So, these entertainers deserve the high pay for the job .

Lastly , the third reason why I agree with the statement is because , we could say that professional athletes and entertainers are so called as role models , idols and an example for the community . They have fame and their names can be seen on the newspaper , in television , billboards and they are mostly highly paid when they are hired to be the face of a product . The force of attraction from them added with the talent and their all time success can influence their fans to get the product . For example , Maya Karin, she is an actress , a singer and a host at the same time . Instead of her professionalism in speaking , singing and acting , she is also a very beautiful woman who once became a Malaysian model . So , for these complete package of personality , she has been hired to be the Inner Shine face product . The women out there will aim to be confident, talented and beautiful like her . These is a good influence for a better life community and the company of Inner Shine to gain their profit as well.

In conclusion , I stand with my opinion that I agree that professional athletes and entertainers are among the highest paid people in this country because they are mostly representing their country especially athletes , they have unique talents , also very professional in their field and they are very famous so they can be a good role model to the community . However , still some issues come up that they do not deserve a high pay because how far important is that their jobs more than the people who work to be a police , fireman and a teacher ? My very simple opinion is that , maybe they are highly paid because they have fame and people know their names . So , every single job they are doing , it is for publicity and bringing our country’s name as people know them as a professional . Thus , again , I agree with the statement .
