Mukesh Ambani- The Leader

• Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani (born on 19 April 1957) is an Indian business magnate and the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, the largest private sector enterprise in India, a Fortune 500 company.

• Mukesh Ambani is the eldest son of Dhirubhai Ambani, the late founder of Reliance Industries.

• He joined Reliance Industries in 1981. • Fourth richest man in the world with a personal wealth

of US$ 29.0 billion and with net worth climbing to US$63.2 billion leaving Bill Gates.

• His personal stake in Reliance Industries is 48%.

Educational Background• Mukesh Ambani chose to pursue science and

eventually chemical engineering while everyone expected him to do textile engineering.

• Initially he joined IIT, Bombay but since the inter-science results came in later he left and joined the University Department of Chemical Technology.

• He has pursued MBA from Stanford University, USA.

Vision/Quotes• On his choice of Chemical engineering as opposed

to textiles he quotes a line from the movie ‘The Graduate’ that left a mark on his mind, “There’s a great future in plastics”, as it represented what his father always believed in: investing in businesses of the future and investing in talent.

• On being asked if he would prefer to be local or global his response is very clear that he aims at changing the lives of people and has ambitions are only for India.

• His views on his ambitions for Reliance are that his focus is on value generation and scaling up to a pick and not simply increasing size.
