Mulberry UMC rekindled its long-time support of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity by participating in an Interfaith Build for a new home in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood recently. The church provided both volunteer and financial support with 20 volunteers totaling approximately 80 hours of work as we transformed the yard with new sod and landscaping. Our Sunday Schools also contributed $2,500 in cash donations, which was combined with endowment “missions” funds to complete our $5,000 commitment. Our great church helping Habitat “building houses, changing lives”. A sincere thank you to everyone who participated and supported the effort.

Small Group Study Led by Matt Woodbery “Making Sense of the Bible” by Adam Hamilton

Wednesdays - August 28 – October 23 6:40 p.m. – Becomers Class

In “Making Sense of the Bible” by Adam Hamilton we are invited into an honest conversation about the Bible. The book begins with foundational questions such as:

How and when was the Bible written? Who decided which books made it into the scriptures and why? How literally must we read it? And, Is the Bible ever wrong?

From there, Hamilton considers the real questions people frequently ask that continue to divide Christians and denominations alike, including:

Were Adam and Eve real people? Why is God so violent in the Old Testament? Why would Paul command women to “keep silent in the church”?

Is the Book of Revelation a guide to the End Times?

In approachable and inviting language, Hamilton addresses these often misunderstood biblical themes leading readers to a deeper appreciation of the Bible so that we might hear God speak

through it and find its words to be life-changing and life-giving.
