I am grateful to God for the visionary leaders of our church, both lay and clergy, who saw a joyful future in opening a new door to welcome people into the life of Mulberry through this three-year initiative called New Room. I am grateful to the many devoted Mulberry membersthrough their prayers, their presence, their gifts, and their servicewho are working for the success of New Room to the glory of God. God is indeed blessing our whole church family as well as the dozens of people who come looking for an encounter with God in New Room. There are too many names to thank in this space. However, I am confident that God will honor your devotion and continue to bless the life of the whole body at Mulberry in the weeks and months to come as we seek excellence in worship, music, and community building in all aspects of the life of our church. We welcome you in the name of Jesus Christ, New Room! In Christ, Matt

MULBERRY STREET UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

A New Chapter for New Room, July 28th, 2019 Nearly three years ago, Mulberry Street UMC made a prayerful and faith-filled decision that required courage and commitment—project the love of Christ as we experience it at Mulberry Street UMC into downtown Macon through a new worship community as an extension of the ministries of the church. New Room was born. It found a home in the Old Library Ball Room where siblings in Christ welcomed people into fellowship and worship inspired by the Holy Spirit.

After months of deliberation by a dedicated committee and leadership team—and after circumstances changed due to staff rearranging and funding considerations—the Church Council endorsed the plan to move from the Old Library Ball Room to the third floor Youth Room in the Mulberry building.

On Sunday, July 28th, the final worship service will start at the Old Library Ball Room, and then participants will walk to the Mulberry campus to complete the service in the new worship space. This new worship space on Mulberry’s third floor, the New Room Worship Center, will be shared with our youth ministry.

On Sunday, August 4th, the first New Room service in the new space will meet at a new time, 11:00 a.m., in what is being called “a soft opening” as we iron out some of the logistical and technical considerations.

Then, on Sunday, August 11th, we will celebrate a new chapter for New Room with a full service of praise and worship and fellowship. This will also be the beginning of the Sunday School season with the whole church celebrating Promotion Sunday at 10:00. We invite the New Room attendees to consider joining one of our Sunday School classes during that hour. (You may even want to start a new one!)

I am grateful to God for the visionary leaders of our church, both lay and clergy, who saw a joyful future in opening a new door to welcome people into the life of Mulberry through this three-year initiative called New Room. I am grateful to the many devoted Mulberry members—through their prayers, their presence, their gifts, and their service—who are working for the success of New Room to the glory of God.

In Christ,

Matt

Equip yourself for effective ministry at Pathways.

Churches looking for new ideas, networking opportunities and practical, quality training for their pastors, parishioners, staff and leaders need look no further than this year’s Pathways leadership training event.

Scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, the training event will offer participants more than 30 workshops to choose from, each designed to help congregations become healthier and to fulfill the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. The event will begin with a time of worship and gathering time around creativity in ministry.

The training, which starts at 9:30 a.m. and lasts until 4:00 p.m., features workshops on a variety of subjects, from children and youth-focused workshops to spiritual discipline workshops to those focused on missions and outreach. The design team urges local church leaders to carpool to the event to minimize travel costs and to maximize the benefits of the day by continuing the learning conversation during the return trip.

The conference cost $25 per person. A boxed lunch from Chick-fil-A is included in the registration fee. Safe Sanctuaries compliant childcare is available for newborn to fifth-grade children at a cost of $10 per child which covers the cost of their lunch. Pre-registration is required for childcare. .5 CEU credits are available for this event.

Use this link to register: https://www.sgaumc.org/pathways After you have registered, please call the church office

(745-8601) or email Linda at [email protected] and let us know. We want to keep a list of Mulberry participants.
