2.DevelopmenthistoryofthewebsiteinbriefThecoordinatorTUDelftisresponsibleforthewebsitedesign.

• Apreliminarymember-onlyMOTORSharePointwebsitecreatedinAugust2015,wasshownduringthekick-offmeeting(September2015)andapprovedbytheconsortium.MOTORSPisinfulloperationalmodesincethemajorupdateoftheSPinfrastructure(November2015).

• InSeptember2015,tentativewebsiteappearanceandnavigationstructurewerediscussedwithAlwinWink(webdesigner),WendyMurtinu(projectmanager)andMatthiasMöller(scientificcoordinator).

• InNovember2015,preliminarywebsiteappearanceandnavigationstructurewerepresentedtoMatthiasMöller(scientificcoordinator)andapproved.WebsitecontentwascreatedbyMatthiasMöllerandtransformedintoacorporatewebsiteappearancebyAlwinWink.

• OnTuesday,December15,2015,thewebsitewasofficiallylaunched.

3.WebsitedesignconsiderationsThewebsitelayoutdesignandthetechnicalimplementationisdonebywebdesignerMr.AlwinWinkattheValorisationCentreofTUDelft.ThewebsiteispoweredbytheWordPressplatform.Thefollowingconsiderationsplayedaroleinthedevelopmentofthewebsite:

• Theprimarypurposeofthepublicwebsiteistoinformthegeneralpublic,thescientificcommunityandindustryabouttheexistenceoftheMOTORprojectandtoregularlyreportonnewsandeventsrelatedtoandtheprogressachievedintheproject.TomaximizetheimpactofMOTOR,aclearandsimplenavigationstructurewasimplemented,whichprovidesdifferentnavigationpathstailoredtotheinterestofthethreedifferenttargetgroups.Specifically:

o Thenavigationstructureremainsunchangedthroughouttheentirewebsiteandisalwaysshownatthetopofeachpagetoenabledirectaccesstoallpartsofthesite.

o Theclickablelogoappearsattheupper-leftcornerleadingbacktothelandingpage.o Thetemplatedesignisbasedoncolouredtiles,whichprovideaclearstructuringof

thecontentintothethreecategories‘generalinformation’(red),‘science’(blue)and‘industry’(yellow).Thiscolour-codednavigationstructureismeanttosupportthedifferenttargetgroups(generalpublic,scientificcommunity,industry)inidentifyingthosepartsofthewebsitethatprovidethemostrelevantinformationforthem.

o Largepartsofthewebsiteprovidetarget-groupspecificpage-basedcontentthatwillbeupdatedduringtheperiodoftheprojectwhenevernecessarywhilepreservingtheoverallnavigationstructuretosimplifyfindingbackofcontent.News,eventsandoutstandingcontentarepresentedinadynamicallychangingblog.

o EachwebpageprovidesbuttonstodirectlyemailthepagecontentandcreateaPDFversionoptimizedforprintingtosimplifysharingofwebsitecontent.

• Afull-textsearchfunctionisincludedwhichallowsforsearchingthewebsiteforspecificphrases.Thelistofsearchtermsisautomaticallygenerated,augmentedwithuser-addedspecificsearchtermsforcombinationsofwords.

• Consortiumconfidentialinformationisnotsharedthroughthepublicwebsite.o Thereistheoptiontohaveapasswordprotectedareaonthepublicwebsite,whichis

currentlynotusedduetomaintenanceconsiderationsbutcouldbemadeavailablefortheconsortiumifneededinthefuture.

o Wehavechosentoshareconfidentialinformationthroughapassword-protectedMicrosoftSharePointsite,whichismadeavailablebyTUDelft.ItcanbeaccessedthroughtheMOTORwebsite,butleadstoaseparateSharePointenvironmentthatrequiresuserlogincredentials.TheSharePointaddressis:https://teams.connect.tudelft.nl/projects/vc/MOTOR/SitePages/Home.aspx

• Thewebsiteisregisteredunderthe.eudomain.Theofficialwebsiteaddressis:http://www.motor-project.eu.

• ContentmanagementisdonebythecoordinatorTUDelft.Thetechnicaldeveloperofthewebsitehascreatedaneasy-to-usecontentmanagementinterfacethatprovidesthenecessaryoptionsforeditingexistingandaddingnewwebsitecontent.

• Thetemplatedesignshouldgiveaclearandtechnicalimpression.Toensurefullfunctionalityandoptimalappearanceonawiderangeofbrowserdevices(computers,tables,mobilephones)aresponsiveWordPressthemewaschosenthatautomaticallyadjuststheappearancetothephysicaldimensionsofthebrowserdevice.

ThecontentofthewebsiteisprovidedbyTUDelft(coordinator)andthepartners,andwillbeupdatedregularly.Meetingsandemailcommunicationwillbeusedtobringthewebsiteunderattentionoftheconsortium,andtoaskfor(additional)inputsforthecontent.
