Abstract

A novel problem is considered for filtering of elastic flexural waves by chiral systems incorporating networks of gyrobeams. A gyrobeam is a solid whose flexural displacements are coupled through the equations of motion, and flexural vibrations are accompanied by a rotational motion. The talk will also present a comparison with the earlier results on the earthquake protection systems, which incorporated specially designed multi-scale systems of resonators into industrial structures. Theoretical investigations are accompanied by a series of numerical simulations and demonstrations.
