Task

• You will deliver a presentation to the “Dragons” to try and convince them to invest in your Battle Re-enactment Company.

• Your presentation to the “Dragons Den” panel you will need a multimedia presentation using PowerPoint.

Multimedia Presentation

• A presentation is a way of communicating information and ideas to someone else.

• Presentation software combines text with colours, images and sounds into slides, which help to get a message across.

• The people watching the presentation are called the audience.

Purpose and Audience

Purpose• Why are you doing it?• What is the key

message you are trying to get across?

• Are you mainly trying to give information, or to entertain?

Audience• Who is going to be

watching your presentation?

• How old are they?• How well can they

read?• What do they already

know about the subject?

Good and Bad Presentations

Good• Be easy to read• Be easy to understand• Have a clear beginning,

middle and end• Take into account the

needs of the intended audience

Bad• Misspelled words• Background pictures that

make text difficult to read• Too much information on

a slide• Fancy font in colours that

are hard to read• Anything which makes it

hard for the intended audience to get the message!

Understanding your Audience

People in the audience – Who are they?Understand – Will they understand the words,

sounds and images used?Read – Will they be able to read the content?Planned – Have you planned how to talk about the

content?Offend – Will any of the content offend the

audience?Simple – Have long, complicated words been used

when there are easier ones?Effective – Are the text, images and sound clear

and effective

Peer Assessment

• You are going to assess all of the presentations and award a mark. You are asked to judge them against two criteria: Quality of the presentation and Content of the presentation.

• Once you have uploaded your work view other pupils work and give formative comments.

Assessment Criteria

• Quality means: consistent background, consistent font, good use of colour, good use of bullet points, not too much information on one slide, appropriate images, appropriate sounds.

• Content means: the information in the presentation – is it easy to understand? Is it interesting? Does it answer the questions posed at the start of the project?
