Multimedia User Group and iPad Pilot Project Professional learning opportunities for general and special education teacher, administrators, and staff to learn, collaborate, and study effective strategies for using multimedia and technology tools to best meet the needs of all students. SAN JUAN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Assistive Technology: iPad Pilot Project and Multimedia User Group (MMUG) The San Juan District’s Multimedia User Group (MMUG) is a group of educators studying the effective use of multimedia in classroom instruction. It is a teacher-led training. MMUG incorporates teachers and educators from all grade levels, school sites and content areas, including general and special education. MMUG Symposiums held on three Saturdays throughout the school year and centered around a common language of multimedia instruction. Saturday trainings include an opening keynote presented by teacher leaders, grade level/content area breakout sessions, and technology tool training sessions. The iPad Pilot project in San Juan District is part of a joint effort with the Special Education Department and Technology Services. It supports students with a variety of instructional needs at six school sites. The school sites include: Cameron Ranch and Mariemont Elementary Schools, Woodside K-8, Carnegie Middle, and Del Campo and Mesa Verde High Schools. Each school site team consists of general education teachers, special education teacher(s), and the site administrator. Schools site teams received professional learning from Apple, participated in the MMUG trainings, and attended monthly iPad Pilot collaboration meetings.
