Climate change

Trees can:•Reduce surface water run off, soil erosion and flow into streams• Act as a “green leaky dam”, slowing water speeds and thereby reducing peak flows and helping mitigate against flooding.•Reduce manure and fertiliser run off thereby improving water quality . This can be particularly important in Nitrogen Vulnerable Zones (NVZ).
Pontbren: infiltration rates improved by 90% within 2 years of planting.
